More walkabout photos

Love these, protective grids around trees.

A bit of art.

Rochester Marina on the Medway river.

Street poet.

And spotted, on a traffic control post.

And finally......

Death in the streets.

Weekend over.....

More random pics.

Shared with me by a friend.

And no, nothing for sale, secret location and the rest.

Meanwhile, back in St Louis, Dennis’ son’s house is taking shape.

Underfloor heating, electricity and plumbing going in.

Studwork for both floors going in, my favourite truck in the background.

And while the weather sucks, he continues to build signage for the gas station.

And the Blazer headed home late Sunday afternoon.

Never bought gas.... honest.

More dripfeeding our passions....

The last few days have been unseasonably warm.
I see my plum tree in bloom outside.
And over the road.....

RIGHT

RIDDLE TIME.

Mickey brought this over tonight, for me to hang on the wall.

He says it is Porsche, I have no idea.

So answers on a postcard or reply on here......

What is it, or could it be from.

Bottom view.

Quite shallow.

Yes it is.

Top view.

And the angry sky tonight, looking over toward Essex.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

My good friend Stas and I were having a loooong chat on WhatsApp today.

Stas who lives in Siberia with his wife Katya (famous in her own right) and two kids, was alone today because he had just sent them off to China on holiday with his in laws.

Yesterday they did what comes naturally and went to watch some local races.

Pics are all you need.

Stas today.

The race drivers also take the kids for rides on the track, and encouragemgrass roots interest.

Stas’ son Rotislav getting a turn.

That’s all.

I am sure you know that Moto Lita is a British SW company. I have seen these on Porsches, but without the Porsche symbol on the horn ring, it is probably impossible to know if it ever was on a Porsche. I know they worked with Aston Martin in the 60's. I have seen some for sale on Rennlist in the $120 range...but that was a few years ago. It is definitely a cool looking SW. Display it proudly. I have some horn rings displayed from various manufacturers. I think they are artwork from the 40's to 60's. Nice find.

Fun yes.

Cold, certainly

Steering wheel will get a light restoration

Some more random pics from last weekend.

Spent all of Saturday with a lady who happens to live 2.3 miles from me.

Weird ehh?

We went to Whitstable, packed a picnic and ignored our phone, except for using the camera.

Wrapped in three layers at Whitstable

At a really nice vintage fair, some ideas to steal.

Mobile bar.

Village living.

More in a bit.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Some more, sorry I did fall asleep.

Walking around town, this is what the dogs see.

Harbour.

Possibly my favourite shot of the day.

After our picnic on the harbour wall, we went home via Faversham to Mate Neil who was building an extension to his garage, and I got him to pull down one of the two little Turbos he will be fitting to his Chrysler Valiant V8 when he gets to that point.

A happy man for sure.

Lastly, back home, it seems the season is changing at last, flowers, blooms, green shoots and a multitude of birds in the garden.

This makes me happy for sure.

Looking forward to some Blazer time this weekend.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Well, you all know there is a lot of randomness in my posts, usually no rhyme or reason.

Took the Blazer out for a nice drive yesterday, and took Sally along.

She drives a modern daily, a Corsa, so typically well planted, secure suspension, her comment was “It is rather wafty the way it cruises like a ship”

Made me chuckle.

I do enjoy taking pics of this truck Sally seemed to be in on it all.

Wind was pumping......

I do love this truck as well, differently, but just like Prozac, it makes me happy.

I actually have spontaneous laughs.

We ended up on the farm on the way home and Sally tried a selfie with both of us, so I had to photobomb it with my eternally present camera.

Back home I rewarded her for putting up with me, and also for having told me a couple of times the last three weeks to get my finger out when summer comes and start working on my ‘66 C10 bodywork in order to restart all I let go of three years ago when Nicola left.
Our divorce came through last week as well, after the courts had lost our paperwork previously.
So my life can now get back on track, a different track, but a track nonetheless

First BBQ of the year.

Steak and Sausage supplies by Thörsten from Germany, chicken and pointed peppers and coleslaw from Aldi.

It was a good one.

For desert, Sally made us bananas with chocolate buttons slipped into sliced gaps, wrapped in foil, put on the slow side of the fire, and after 15 minutes, served with squirt cream.

Sublime.

And HARLEY STARWALKER.

Sunday report and photos to follow.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Well, second Sunday, every month, regardless of how many weeks in the month, the Kent Breakfast Meeting is held at the Woodman in IDE Hill, Sevenoaks.

All American cars, regardless of age or style is what it is about.

Sometimes an odd non American slips in....

The pub is family owned, and they facilitate meetings for various car, bike and other clubs.

Details below, because they are worth it.

So I headed out at 08.15 in the Blazer and a mile from home I pulled over for the first photo.

More to come.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

One of the nice things about this meeting is that everyone talks, inside and out in the cold.

Some leave earlier as they have families, and other things to deal with.

I headed out by 11.30 as I wanted to pop in at friends Kevin and Theresa’s place, and also to see if Paul was working on his Mercedes Benz.

This has been lowered, modded to an inch of its life.

He and his son are building another one with a V8.

Real gas stop today, spent £50.00 to get the tank just over 1/2 full.

Gas prices for our various neighbors in America, Russia and Australia to compare with whatever you are paying.

Price is pence per liter.

Eventually got home and found that the wind that has been blowing at gale force today, had broken a pillar and thrown to fence panels down the road,
Thankfully my company car was parked over the road, or else it could have had some damage.

So came to an end, a great weekend

And a big turnout for a closed, local group.

A few inside photos I missed out posting.

Food gets brought out from the kitchen, names shouted by server, and then you collect your plate.

Perfect, while we all stand around, drink bottomless coffee and chat.

Bathrooms are exemplary, clean works for me.

A different part, it is a very large place.

And of course, loads of parking outside.

Well worth the visit.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Friday after a stiff work week, I had Sally over for dinner.

She arrived with a gift.

2019 Road trip T-shirt.

Five states we should be hitting

Random car park pic.

I also got a message from Big Mike, a guy I met years ago, offering me a couple of chairs to recommission.

Of course I had to say yes.....

Delivery scheduled for late Sunday.

Saturday Sally and I spent some time together and also had lunch, Turkish.

£11.00 included two coffees.

Sunday was NSRA Swapmeet

Looking forward to it.

Cock shot.

Immaculate 1000cc custom.

Possibly one of my favourite items all day.

Price was steep for my taste, but I love it all.

Note the different attachments this guy had for his prosthetic

Famous in their own lunch times.

Dez Stringer of Stringer Fabrication, and Kev From Wales aka KFW.

Plymouth, one of my personal WANT cars.

Kyle, being a 17 year old, is constantly growing, so food is paramount.....

At least he looked after us too.

Hot, cinnamon donuts were perfect in the chill of the day.

Cock shot truck.

Loads of stuff not photographed.

But pretty certain you get the drift.

Great seeing good, and old friends.

Right.....

Now we get to the money shots.

What I bought, and what I needed are not the same thing.

First item, gas pedal.

I would love to have a few cast in aluminium (Oklahoma anyone??)

My costliest crazy purchase of the day......

Seller wanted £50.00

I wanted it, so sent the “Pit Bull Terrier” back in with an offer of £30.00

Guess who won.

This will either be a drop down bench seat at my deck, or it may become a backseats to a bench on the deck.

Now just need a Chevrolet badge to replace to one that was removed.

Love the detail on this piece, picked it up and wanted it.

Asked the vendor for a price........ “Take it, it’s yours” he replied.

Free.

After cleaning.

I plan to add something else to it, and fitting it to the Blazer.

Late afternoon, that is 2.30pm the traders must have been cold and tired.

More stuff I do not need.

£3.00 bought these very cute espresso cups and four skull valve caps.

A useful tool, keyhole saw for £1.00

A box of screwdrivers.......

£5.00

I only wanted two of them.

Same seller.....

£5.00 for this socket set, Would be rude not to buy them, unused, perfect for Sally’s shed as she has no tools, her sons usually bring tools when she needs stuff to be fixed.

Door lock knobs for the Blazer £1.00

Door mounted mirror, love these, have no use for it, but felt the need to just own it.

Another Blazer item, stainless tip, from an Audi according to seller, part a bundle Craig negotiated for £4.00

Same seller.

Just coz I liked it, for my garage and part of my number plate collection.

So that concluded my day out with Craig and Kyle.

Came home, Big Mike met us all and delivered the two chairs for the deck, we all chatted for another hour.

Then I went over to Sally for a Roast Chicken dinner, with all the trimmings, including pigs in blankets and Yorkshire puddings.

Knackered and back killing me.....

Life is good.
