Re: my 68 shortbed build
thanx guys,
b&a72, my tank is in the front of the bed, i will be installing a cover on it, not sure if i want a black soft cover or a painted flush mount hard cover. today i took a trip to a local hot rod shop and bought some grill trim, headlight retainers and bezels, then i painted up my bowtie. also my new valve covers showed up so i put some paint on then and then polished off the lettering.

Re: my 68 shortbed build
got started on the inner fenders today,
first i had to stretch the bottom to fit the truck fender, then i cut the rolled lip off on the side that will go on the body side then i ran out of wire in the welder, ill go get some more wire tomarow and start on some brackets to attach to the core support and the rail on the bottom of the fire wall.

Re: my 68 shortbed build
I like the look of removing the louvers but how are you going to connect the windshield side of the cowl? You removed the screws attaching it at that area so I would think it would vibrate. S

Re: my 68 shortbed build
i did think about that. i pulled thw 2 screws outa the cowl on the truck off and drove to work a few times and never had a problem. but before i paint the new one i will bolt it on and drive a little to see how it is, that way if there is a problem i can figure it out before it sees paint

Re: my 68 shortbed build
i will try to get a pic of the back of mine , we bent a piece of strap metal in an L shape welded it to the cowl and you slide the cowl on from the front towards the back and the L locks under where the wipers mount !!! im sure this makes no sense without pics, but i will try to post some. anyway it fits very snug and doesnt move around
