Ok......... I think I finally finished the engine build, not in the truck and running, but here is as close as I could get to "tricked out" for an old timed 235!

Thanks guys! This is my first ever build, so I have been taking my time and trying to have my cake and eat it too, I just hope the ole 6 can turn all of those pulleys without starving it too bad!

Mike,
I pulled a T5 from an S10 out of a local parts salvage. I went thru it too, and replaced a few parts. Its amazing what one can learn with enough research and talking to enough people!

I hate to duplicate all of my posts, so I will let yall know when I get it in the truck and whether or not it runs, but do most of my posting on my build thread.

Re: Tricked-out Chevy six cylinder engines

your engine looks bad a$$ who cares if it will turn all of those pulleys it will look good sitting still lol I am not sure that mighty six is the fastest six and for you that have not seen the or heard of the vortec 6 it came in trailblazers. there was a guy that had a turbo powered one in a Malibu wagon that turned some serious times and always did a nice wheel stand off the line.should be able to find it on youtube.

Re: Tricked-out Chevy six cylinder engines

i have a question for anyone running an offenhauser intake and using engine coolant to heat the intake. when i ordered my headers from tom langdon he told me that the freeze plugs in the bottom of the intake will leak and he has a write up on how to make sure it doesn't leak, has any one had this issue? how long will it take before it leaks? and what did you do to fix it?

here is a link to toms write up on this issue.. http://stoveboltengineco.com/2012/02...let-manifolds/

I bought a Clifford intake for mine so I wouldn't have that problem.

I have Clifford's headers. How good does Tom's HEI work?

Seems to be a noticeable difference quicker starts and a we bit more power over the points. You might find one cheaper off a V6 in a wreaking yard the V6 they had in cars and S10 pickup in the 80's. Same firing order and everything so GM stuff is handy..Vernski

HEI, plugs and Weber 32/36 from Tom are on my 65 with 250 I6, factory style exhaust with Thrush Muffler. Awesome. Best money I've spent. Most recent fuel mileage was rural highway, 19.4 MPG. Will be talking with Tom about a T5 swap as soon as the shop opens back up from vacation.
