Sweet project, that is going to be the best of both worlds in the end. Any updates?

Hey FrankieD, You know I'm sorry to see the other truck go, but it looks like you picked up a pretty nice ride! Good luck with this one!!

Thanks for the Interest,,, I just finished up my divorce and sold the house last year. My finances took a beating. Lost 10 grand on the house alone. I still need to buy a compressor for the shop where Tangerine is at and have it wired in. The nice part is I now live in a part of my friend's (Dan) house that he wasn't using, so I'm at the same place where Tangerine is. It will make it a lot easier to just walk out my front door and go to the shop and go to work on her once I get the compressor. Thanks again everyone for your patience and continued support and interest.

Re: "TANGERINE" (C20 to K10) (LWB to SWB) (CST/MOD) (5.3)

Hey guy's,,thanks for the continued interest!! No new updates on the truck,,,as you know I feel extremely blessed just to be able to hold on to it after a job loss and a divorce. Since then I've tried 3 new jobs hoping to find one that will pay well enough to get caught up and be able to get back to work on Tangerine. I think I have finally found just the job. After I get done with tax season I hope to start putting some money away for an air compressor. Then let the fun begin! Thanks again.

Best of luck, divorce sucks even if you want it. I think you will pull yourself up and get back to where you were even better than before. What doesn't kill you......makes you stronger!

Thanks Palf70Step,, I'm pretty excited to be able to get back to work on it!!

As promised,, pictures of the new compressor,,,Specs are: 80 gal. tank, 200 max psi. ACFM 24 at 175psi!! This should get the job done!

Also pictured is the current state of my truck. Before it got moth balled, I took it all back apart to do the rust repairs and body work on the front fenders and doors. So this is where I'm going to start (again). I do have some mods I'd like to do on both the doors and the fenders,, so that's going to be interesting to see how well they turn out. Thanks again for all the interest.

Thanks Mike,,thanks for coming back for more fun!! Congrats again on the TOTM,,too cool!!

Thanks Bill!! I didn't like the idea of buying one too small and then waiting for the compressor to keep up with the air sanders and die grinders.

Thanks Ryan,,It's great to be back,,,I like getting idea's and learning techniques from guys like you. As far as my body mods,,, well,, you'll just have to stick around and see!!!

Re: "TANGERINE" (C20 to K10) (LWB to SWB) (CST/MOD) (5.3)

Ok,,, I've spent the last couple of weekends helping friends and family by working on their broke down cars. However I did manage to get a few things done on the project. First thing that had to be done was breaking down the old box (bed) cause it was in the way and I'm sick of needing 4 guys to move it around. I thought I would need to keep the bedsides and cut them down to a custom size for this build,, but after re-measuring things I'm thinking that the standard shortbox sides should work.

I also started working on the right fender. I stripped it and found plenty of good old rust and some dents and dings.

Re: "TANGERINE" (C20 to K10) (LWB to SWB) (CST/MOD) (5.3)

I also managed to "rough in" my mod for the fender. I plan on putting in the 72 side marker lights, like a lot of guys do, but I wanted to kind-of "french" mine in. I had the local metal fab shop computer plasma cut some blanks out that are a little smaller than what the L.E.D. side marker lights would fit though. I also had them made out of thicker (than 18 gauge) steel. I hand finished them to fit the light and with the thicker steel,, it sets the depth right where I wanted them and it gave me a good place to weld on some attaching studs.

.
Showing the difference between the blank and 18ga steel. I think it's 1/8th inch steel,,but I had these cut over 2 years ago,,,memory is kind of fuzzy.
.
