Re: 1956 Chevy Pro-Street Build

Well moving right along ....

I thought I was keeping up here on the build but I guess not. Over the past week and a half I have gotten the frame stripped of everything, painted, and just about put back together.....

Pics

Went with the Gray Hammerfinish...

That frame looks outstanding! What color paint is that? I like the contrast with the black suspension components.

Keep up the good work.

Re: 1956 Chevy Pro-Street Build

Thanks guys for checking in on my progress, it feels good seeing this all come together.... The frame color is a Rustoleum Hammer paint - Gray #7214 - its available at most ACE Hardware stores. I bought out 2 of them! The whole frame took about 12 cans of paint for 2 heavy coats.

Just running into other issues - but nothing that cant be solved by THROWING MORE MONEY at it.....

The rear end went out to be "just checked out" and filled with oil and made ready to install... well when my guy opened it up he found a junk 3rd member in there - nothing like what the seller stated was part of the original deal... so $1000 bucks for a new complete 3rd member assembly... and that was a deal!

Next will be the transmission.... same thing... totally stock trans, no good stuff what so ever in it.... so it totally has to be gone thru and built bad A$$ to handle my heavy foot.... another $1000 bucks....

If I only had my wallet full of $1000 dollar bills everything would be just perfect!!!! lol

Ok so the brakes on the front are all together - last thing I got done before taking off on vacation for a week.... enjoy!

Re: 1956 Chevy Pro-Street Build

Front suspension looks real nice.
Did you use spray cans on your frame?
I brushed the Rustoleum Hammered black on mine which turns out more like grey.

Re: 1956 Chevy Pro-Street Build

Well still waiting on the rearend and the transmission to get done...

Guess I better start on the electrical wiring and get it all buttoned up on the frame rails. Im thinking of using 'Amphenol' bulkhead plug connectors at the cab to plug everything into. That way the cab can go on (or off) by simple plug' n play!

The bed will have to be plug' n play also because its going to have to come off to just change the rear tires!!!!

Electrical is my thing so I may as well do it up nice!

Re: 1956 Chevy Pro-Street Build

I thought about using a connector like that as well. Would look real neat and tidy. I almost have to take my rear fenders off to change my tires. Just need no air and a wiggle.

Uh Oh....

Well.... well .... I just have to unload a bit....

Life is a "World Series Game 7" and curve balls are thrown at ya all the time I guess!

We just got the word that the owners of the property we are renting from are going to sell. We wanted to be able to buy the place, but it looks like they are pricing us right out of it... or I guess the market is. This kinda throws a 'wrench into things....

We have been blessed here so far, so maybe the Good Lord has another plan for us in some other place.... He knows what He is doing and we just gotta roll with it.... wish us luck and prayers work too!

Thank You

Re: 1956 Chevy Pro-Street Build

Thank you guys! truly all of you make a difference in each others lives no matter how great or small. We all have moments of need and moments to offer others our help and words. I have much to be thankful for and really cannot complain at all! - and will not.

Everything does happen for reasons we know nothing about and if we are patient and willing enough to allow the 'cream to rise' (so to speak) then its all for good. This house was a gift from God when we needed it and also provided for a family with an elderly gentleman that has alzheimers to support him with. Im sure He'll find us some comfort in another place for another reason that is a good situation for all... whether for purchase or another rental.

Thanks again.

The truck is kinda on the back burner at the moment, but Ill get 'r done!

Re: 1956 Chevy Pro-Street Build

Ptc,

Been away for a while and just caught up on your build. Fricking awesome! Love what you are doing and when I came upon the pics of the front end I said aloud "man that is clean!" Congrats on your new grandson, nothing is greater. Sorry to hear of the challenge you are faced with in relocating, sux, but like many have said, things happen for a reason. Keep the faith. Looking forward to the continuation of your build when you are able.

Take care.
