I like this idea but I'll have to figure out a way to mold the factory shroud around them to hide them. I really like how the factory hump shroud hides the front of the engine. It just looks nice and tidy. What years of intrepid fans and do you know the measurements off the top of your head?

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

BTW anyone thinking about purchasing Intellitronix gauges may want to think twice. Im having all kinds of issues and cant get any reply. First off the oil pressure sending unit was bad. The guage just stayed at 99. After not being able to get a response by phone and leaving numerous messages to call me back about the issue, I did some internet research people were saying to use your factory sending unit. I bought a factory sending unit and the gauge just stays around 69-72psi. hooking up a mechanical gauge shows that is a lie by far with readings closer to 40 psi at cruise and 20 at idle. fuel gauge just hangs out at 20% no matter how much gas I put in and as you all know I have a brand new sending unit. Im going to pull it tomorrow if its not raining and make sure its not just stuck on a tank baffle or something but I really think its this digital cluster just not functioning properly. Yesterday when I turned on my lights it blew the courtesy light fuse. After replacing the fuse, now when I turn on my lights, all the gauges dim 50% as they should except the speedometer which just goes off completely! called again today...no human response. Left yet another message. Im sending emails now but I really dont expect to get a response that way either. Just a warning. apparently quality control and customer assistance are not part of the program with these guys.

For what? $15? That's a drop in bucket of what I just spent. Not even worth the trouble.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

Update: intellitronix finally called me back this morning. He apologized and told me email is the best way to ensure contact since they only have one phone line. After discussing all my issues, they are sending me a new dash cluster and new sending units. I'm not really looking forward to a reinstall but I'm happy that they're not making me send the old one back and wait for them to check it before I get my new one so I'm giving them a HUGE thumbs up on that! Hopefully the new dash will work better.

I'm glad you figured it out before it hurt the motor again. I wouldn't think there's any basis for a claim though, unless it's advertised to be used for mounting a sending unit there. Without that it would divert the oil like it's supposed to. Either way, glad you got it sorted out!

That's the thing. It's not a fly by night eBay company. These dashes are sold by summit, jegs, classic industry's, etc. there are many great reviews on this forum alone for intellitronix dash kits. It's just my crap luck I always get the lemons. This whole build has been a lesson in frustration and patience. Besides that, it's like I told Rodney on the phone awhile ago.....I have to have a functioning dash and being broke from the rebuild, I can't afford to spend $700 on auto meter or Dakota digital. Getting this one functioning properly is literally my only option. I don't like it but that's how it is right now.

That's exactly why they put a tapped hole for a sending unit in it. Lol. I go over that in the video. The ones without the tap should work fine.

Sorry about that, I watched the video and thought I was paying attention. I thought you tapped it for the sending unit.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

Ok so I dont have any progress to report. Still trying to work the bugs out of my tune without much luck. Also still waiting on intellitronix to send me a replacement gauge cluster. Been waiting well over a month now. Cant get anyone on the phone and what few emails I get are empty promises that items will be shipped "tomorrow". In the last month there have been at least four tomorrows promised and still I have no parts and no explanation as to what the hold up is. I dont like to trash on companies but at this point I think Im well within my rights to say stay away from these guys!!! Its looking like Im going to have to find a circuit board guru to try to fix what I have because Im obviously NOT going to get my replacement. Either that or just disconnect the dimmer wire so my speedometer will stay on at night and live with an inaccurate water temp and oil pressure gauge. Im starting to understand why no one wants to buy from American companies anymore.
On to the next topic, I just have to buy a new family vehicle so Ive got car payments again. This is definately going to limit my budget for performance mods so I guess Im going to be doing what body work I can until I come into some more cash. My buddy has welded in the fuel filler for my blazer tank and is going to be welding up the old fuel fillers for my and possibly modifying the fenders to clear my drag radials soon. I also got some unrednecked leaf springs from craigslist and a flip kit from rodsgreen10 so as soon as I get some from coil springs to match height and get the rear fenders back on Ill post some pics. Until then Im just gonna keep trying to figure out whats going on with my tune and maybe doing some rust repair on the cab.

Steppin Wolf looks great along side Simple Green!

You plan on keeping the old school Centerline Hellcat wheels?
