Re: Restoring OEM Seatbelts

After rust removal from the mounts and buckles. The last picture is the badly pitted buckle. It was one that was replaced.

Re: Restoring OEM Seatbelts

The housing on one of the retractors had a broken tab, where the rivet goes. It was plastic welder back on.
Center buckles are completed. Just need to rivet the housings back to the retractor mounts.

Re: Restoring OEM Seatbelts

Another set of belts completely for someone. These are the 81-86 Blue. They got a good through cleaning and rust removal. Mechanisms were cleaned & lubed for better retracting. Same with the buckles, they were disassembled for debris & rust removal.
Here are the Before Pics

Here’s the next set of 81-86 Saddle Tan belts restored for someone. And these were about as dirty as the set I just did, lol!
These got the typical through cleaning and rust removal. Buckles disassembled for debris & rust removal. They received New Upper Anchor Covers, New Buckle Covers and New Emblems.
Check out the Before Pics

The 2 Saddle Tan belts I pretty much did simultaneously, the one right after the other since they were the same color.
Had quite a few show up recently, that should have been here a few months ago. The belts that were delayed on getting to me, they now want them done before Spring. Been working on them non-stop. You can pretty much say I have a small assembly line going, lol. When working on a set of belts, and one step gets completed, another set ready to take over that spot and so on & so on. At this point, theres 7-8 sets of belts to do. Some of those are belts I’m supplying, so my main focus is getting people’s belts back to them ASAP.

I want to be done by Spring/Summer myself. I don’t have the time like I do in the wintertime. Other things start picking up for me, like mowing grass, and doing a few sets of door panels. Those get done when it gets warmer out, it’s easier to clean them outside.
So now that I made this post and had my coffee, it’s time to get busy!

Hey, your welcome. They turned out better than expected. It would have been better had I had a cover to swap the broken out with.

Re: Restoring OEM Seatbelts

Here’s another set of Saddle Tan belts that were cleaned and restored for someone. These are 1987 belts. Whew, these belts were filthy! The center belts were the worst. The lap belt latch was stuck in the buckle. Had to pop the cover off to get it too release. There was a penny jammed under the spring, so it wasn’t allowing the button to press down to release the latch. They all get disassembled for cleaning and rust removal, and this is a perfect example of why. There is all kinds of crap hiding inside the buckles. Someone had also painted the upper anchor covers Black, so those needed to be cleaned of the paint, and then freshened up with Saddle Tan dye.
Retractors were also throughly cleaned & lubed. Found one of the springs was about to come flying out from under its cover. See pic #4.

Re: Restoring OEM Seatbelts

2 sets of Charcoal Black. First one is the 79-86, before & After. They both got the all out Restoration. This set the lap latch was pitted, so he got a new one.

The next set is the 87. Same treatment. But their buckle covers were worn down, so they got New Buckle covers.
So here are the Before & After pics on both sets.
