i got a job again and having fun at it too

idea's for the trucks and the order of things to do are taking shape and get closer to being realized , a few more months and i be able to start building for real

i complete 2 of the trucks intoo running fashion one custom and one basicly stock the thirth will be sacrificed for parts

I just want to lower my 69 C10 a few inches, not drop or slam it. What is the easiest and least expensive way to do it? Will changing the springs and shocks lower it?

Sarge, the first time that I lowered mine I did just springs, 3" drop. It owrks but you ride will suffer in my opinion. I changed it all a few years down the road and put a 2" spindle and a one inch spring and it help the ride but you can go either way

Yes you can just change out your springs and shocks but that will afect your ride, handling and steering just a bit because of the change in cast and camber but most guys have started out that way at some point and time. For the front end that would run you about $150 give or take. The rear I would just do springs as it will not affect much if you are only wanting a few inches.

What most guys end up goint to in the front would be like discribed above are 2.5" drop spindles $229 (ECE) and 1 or 2" lower springs $110+- (ECE) then shocks. So since most of us end up going this way in the end why not learn from us and jusat do it to start with! It involves almost the same amount of work since you have to half way undo your stock spindle to change out a spring anyways. Good luck and I hope you like what ever way you go.

That would have to be semi-rigid.

The frame material was obviously specially selected so it would absorb the harmonics of the road and flex with any harsh surface imperfections.

Man that is some smart thinking!!

I had to go to a pine... the balsa proved to be too fragile. I thought all evidence of that build had been destroyed!

One question I forgot to ask you: I'm running a 2-piece drive shaft, even w/ that will one piece still have to be lengthened? And if so, I guess it would be the front half? Also, if the motor is moved, what does that do to core support and fan shroud tolerances?

I think you will be "pioneering" the two-piece drive-shaft and Dropmember combo. I am assuming the front shaft will need to be lengthened, and the carrier may need to be shimmed???... I don't know which trailing arm crossmember you're running.

The core support does not need to be moved (I am unsure why moving the 'radiator placement' was referenced in the Classic Truck's article... The radiator and core support are un-touched and un-altered. The shroud may need to be modified... I know a stock shroud will have interefrence issues with the fan after the install.

I'm running the stock crossmember but will be going to the ECE drop crossmember for clearance reasons. For 200 bucks it's worth it for me just to buy theirs than spend my time modifying my existing one.

Not sure why the carrier bearing assembly would need to be shimmed. Can you elaborate?

For pinion angles... The trans will be moving upward, thus changing the pinion angle, if the carrier is left at the same height. There are great references to information about pinion angle that SlammedDime has posted in other threads. It should help you in finalizing your pinion angles.

I have a question before I start installing my dropmember. What do you do with the lines that run in the back of the original? They have a bunch of crazy bends. Just curious what everyone else has done!! Hey Nathan hit me up sometime!!

Im running a Late model Lt1 engine in my truck, would this setup have any effect on the pulley setup? Im not running any AC Just a AC delet.

Hi, Im running a Porterbuilt dropmember in my 64. I am also running a 94 Trans Am LT1. I still have the A/C in the stock location so I beleive this combo will work for you also. I totally recomend the dropmember, it looks so much cleaner then a cut up Z notch. Good luck!

Still awaiting my rack notches and rack to spindle Heims. Any word on there where abouts? Also still intrested in a price on those hood hinges, and a polished power rack like the one installed on dino's 66? I'm not being pushy,
I'm just excited to finally start purchasing some higher dollar parts.

Is that car on bags? If not, I personally think the wheels look too big. They need to be tucked more. IMO
