Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
Well it's nice to have two similar but different builds, like the black 2wd, everything just seems to fit the build, the 4wd is looking great, anymore specs or details on both, see you south west of me by about 7-8 hours, my daughter is in university in Saskatoon so get down there a bit and always attend cruise weekend every 3rd weekend of Aug, all booked in this year, maybe see you there.

Thats cool, I didn't even notice your location till now! The 2wd has a pretty healthy 434" BBC, th400 3000 stall, 3.73 gear. 3" spindle and 2" coil, then a flip and c-notch in the rear. It's going to be swapped over on a dually chassis this summer hopefully. Most likely a 4-link bag setup, I want to be able to pull my enclosed trailer with it if need be. May have to detune it a bit for towing. The 4x4 has roughly 5-6" lift and 35's. Stock 400sbc and auto, np203. Its been pretty much my daily driver or when its messy out. I have a couple other trucks I like to keep clean lol. I usually try to get to cruise weekend but didn't this last year, I have a '71 Nova that I sometimes take to the race track. |

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
Yenko Nova at the show looked almost identical until I stared at yours more and his had a stock hood, not yours which I like far better, so what times does yours run, just wondering, a good friend of mine has a 69 Nova SS big block car and I built him a 468 for it just over 500hp and he runs it at Gimili, not sure of his times with this new engine but already upped the ante w a new 468 with Dart Iron Eagle heads, ported and more so just over 600hp now, installing that soon, funny his current setup has only 200 plus miles on it and...well us hotrodders are never satisfied, but having fun.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
Ya there are a few clones around, I didn't plan to do the stripes but I needed something to break up the yellow a bit. I like it, but I am tired of getting asked if its a real Yenko lol.
I cruise it a lot, but don't take it to the track as much as I would like. The last run with it in the fall at Swift Current was a 9.51 @144mph. |

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
First off there is a lot of pretty freakin bad ass trucks in here!! I love chevys, I always have and always will!! Also I was hoping I could get some feedback from you guys on a build I'm getting ready to start on my 1979 Chevy 3/4 ton long bed?? I'm going to be doing everything myself and would love to get some input from other chevy people that have been there done that to help not only save me some money, but the headache as well. Id greatly appreciate it if you got a few minutes to take a look. I already started a thread and heres the link....

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
Hey guys, new here. Working on a build thread, but thought I'd introduce myself here. This is my 78 C10 Big 10 350/350 with a 3.73 rear end. My father-in-law bought it from the original owner's widow in 1982 and my wife came home from the hospital in it. It has vortec heads, Edelbrock intake and carb, an mild cam, and true dual exhaust. When it stopped getting driven regularly, he offered it to me and my wife. I call it an early inheritance. My father-in-law gets all the credit, all I have had to do is drive it the past 4 years. Some big changes in the works though!

It is pretty solid, runs good. Needs some work but still good to daily drive right now. I plan to slowly pick away at it

That's a cool truck, I've seen it once in a while ripping around town.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
I just finished putting a 4" lift on today. It needs some steering adjustments made due to the dropped pitman arm and the sway bar needs to be reattached. Waiting on some wheels/Fuel "Mavericks"

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
Hopefully it looks taller than 4". I went with the shackle flip, per research on this forum, on the rear with Heavy duty shackles and for the front I went with the 4" tuff country HD springs and shackles. I picked everything up from off-road designs. It all could actually be taller than 4", but I'm glad you think so.
For tires, im gonna initially hang with some 285/60 r20 Michelin or firestone/ dealer takeoffs. Essentially a 33.5-34.5 ish tall and 11"ish wide. I blew my wad on wheels this go around. So replacements down the road may be something a lil cooler looking. |
