Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Had 3 friends meet me at my place after work to pick up the truck box and set it back on the frame. I got the box bolted back down. I have new 2” drop springs installed in the rear. It looks better already. Looking forward to getting the front springs done and some 31” tires on. I think the truck will look sharp.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
got my heater control back together and back in, sits a little crooked, but I'll deal with that later. Did some CAD(cardboard aided design) work on the glove box, should start bending metal tomorrow for that

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Applied my 0-8000 rpm stencile from PJMORELAND.
Scared I was gonna fog the lens with the spray cleaner I used, but it worked. Thanks Patrick. The tach went from busy and completely off, to clean and properly centered.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
OH! good to know! I plan to do the same, soon. Lucky for me, I already found out my front cab bolts are not spot-welded, and there's no rusted on nut/bolts as my truck was garaged for most of it's life. My bushings aren't bad, but thought it's a good time to redo.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Played with paper dolls: First cardboard template for the glovebox interior(traced from the remains of the original) wasn't really working great for tracing out the sheet steel parts, so I started over with some skinnier stock.
Also working through a Fusion360 tutorial for bent sheetmetal parts so I'll be able to make a grown-up drawing. Last edited by Rust_never_sleeps; 12-13-2023 at 03:57 AM. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Got a decent clip of the new motor this morning. Finally got some dry (but cold) weather to get some more break in miles on the new combo

Started bending metal for glovebox. I've never bent metal before and it's going about as well as I should have expected

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Tore the front end apart. Rotors and calipers were new, everything else is in need of replacement. Made a list of parts to order. Cut the rivets off upper ball joints and got them out. Will need to get a tool for the lowers.
I have 1” drop springs, The original springs had 1” rubber isolators, so the front will sit 2” lower than before. Excited to get this back together and see how it looks. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Wanting to fill up the gap between tires and fender. If there is too much gap after putting 31x10.50-15s on, I’ll go with a drop spindle.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
oh yeah. This motor came with a wicked set of 186 factory 2.02 heads. They were really ported at some point on the intakes and the exhaust ports were slightly smoothed up. Stainless valves and screw in studs. Then the intake is a 69/70 Z28 over the counter piece (only difference was a little bowtie on the rear runner behind the carb.)
