Re: Project "Irvin"
I'm glad you're getting to enjoy it. I've been going down to the Goodguys show for the last 3 years. I have a cousin that lives in Mooresville.

Re: Project "Irvin"
Mooresville is 30-40 minutes from me, brought truck home today and had a little incident so back in the garage for some quick repair. Gotta love cheap bearings (came with McGaughys brake kit)

What is that blue trk lurking in the background behind the '98? Had a great weekend at ZMax for the 4 wide Nationals.

Re: Project "Irvin"
I need to talk with ya about the smoothies. A buddy of mine who owns a vinyl business just wrapped his father-in-laws Pontiac G8 in chrome. Sounds tacky right? No man... it looks pretty crazy. I thought about doing the Blazer, but it would need some color on the wheels to contrast with the abundance of chrome. DM me a ballpark price with caps. (and how do you mount the caps?!? Same as Delmo?)

Re: Project "Irvin"
Hey Ben, haven't heard from you in awhile. Hope work, home, family doing well. '69 in shop to fix gas gauge again, tighten up some stuff, trans leak, hook up electric choke on carb. I need an automatic steering column or at least the spring that goes directly behind the steering wheel to get the horn to work. No one sells the spring in catalog. LMC shows the spring on their break down of the parts, but they don't sell the spring.

Re: Project "Irvin"
Glad you mentioned that, I had failed to right it down. Send me the details, location, times, etc. I'll try to come. I was going to drive truck to church yesterday, when I turned the key, nothing! I jumped it, walked around to disconnect and gas was flowing out of see-through filter onto the intake. I ran and cut it off, left it. When I got home, I took the filter apart, cleaned it and reinstalled it. Battery still dead, so I'll have it checked this afternoon when I get in. No date on battery so I don't know anything about it. I'm glad it happened like it did, I would have hated driving down the road and it catch on fire, or be in Charlotte Saturday and have problems. Get that new garage done, I have plenty for you to do on "Grace", that's what my granddaughter named her. That's her middle name.

Re: Project "Irvin"
Got it, thanks. I just got in from Power Tour. Great turnout show. I was hoping a C10 would be there. I was surprised the trucks that had 5.3 in them. I checked my gas mileage, w/ the overdrive trans. it's not getting any more than the '72 did. I don't know if the truck is too much for the 305 or if the 3.08 gear is wrong for it. I seem to remember reading were some folks said u needed to go to 3.42 or 3.73 to keep rpm's up in the torque range. Any suggestions? If lugs a lot around 50-55, seems to run better at 65-70. I had to put a new battery in, then the new radio wouldn't come on. My son took it to stereo store for me Friday, a fuse had blown. I had to stop about halfway up there today, fuel filter had picked up trash again. I guess I'll run it empty and try to clean it out, then check the sending unit and stuff and see why it won't go to "full" when it's full. Other than that, I'd like to get cab corners/rockers done this winter so I can put in sound deadener and carpet. I'm thinking about dropping 5/7 since air ride will be a long term dream. Still looking for tilt/auto steering column. If I can swing next Sat., I'll preregister by Monday so I can schedule plans. Thanks again.

Re: Project "Irvin"
Just checking in. Installed auto column last night, finally have a horn for the truck. I found a ground wire loose on gas tank, hoping that will help needle go to "full" position. Disconnected new radio to see if that is what's killing the battery. New battery, alternator is fine, I didn't have any troubles until radio was installed. Hope u r well.

Re: Project "Irvin"
It sounds like to me you need to take the gas tank out and take it down to the car wash and stick the high pressure washer nozzle down into the sender hole and do a really good job of spraying out the bottom and sides of the tank then empty as much water as possible and set it out in the direct sunlight on a hot day for 6 hours to dry then instal it and leave in the current fuel filter and put a quarter tank of gas in with a half bottle of sea foam and drive it around until it's out of gas then fill up again.
The high pressure washer should clean out any crap in the tank and the sea foam will clean out any trash in the lines and then change the filter again and your filter should stay clean after that. |

Re: Project "Irvin"
The tank is under the bed, I'd have to take the bed off the truck to remove the tank.
