If you decide to go with the bead roller design I have a bead roller if you don't. Just cut the door and send them out to me. Leave room for bead shrink

Icebrgh Thank you for the link lead. I ordered a couple different styles of push magnets and some piano hinge.

And thank you for your offer for doing the beading! I don't have a bead roller and think I will be able to hook up with one of my metal shaping buddies. Will touch base if that doesn't work out.

Looking forward to getting the powertrain fabb'ed in place.

Thanks Tim, that is likely the way I will go. Simple panel will match the rest of the truck best. Lotta cool ideas offered though.

Made the left side 99R46 box today in about three hours.

Filled in the radius I cut out on the right side box. Didn't need the cut out and it bugged me, so I welded the piece back in.

Spent a little time figuring out which end the transmission goes on .

Then removed the harness, manifolds, ac compressor and installed the lift bridge to get ready for installation. This engine lift bridge (not sure what else to call it) came from Mac's tie downs. Decided to try one as all the others I have tend to want to get into the firewall.

Now the fun begins? I've installed a 6.0 & 4L80e in one of my projects who's harness are you going to use?

Drifters it was good to get some wrenches in my hands today. More my comfort zone. Will either modify the factory harness or may use BP automotive on this one. Last LS i put in was the 56 Chevy and we used PSI.

sweet second run on the "99r46". can't wait to see that LS stripped down. I got one sitting waiting and I HATE, see all the factory stuff on it. can't wait to tear into it. I'm gonna feel like a stressed out newborn on sourcing and learning all the ins and outs of it. Just finding different brackets and intake and this and that, just seems like a lot but as easy as the ol small blocks can be, those are alot of nickel and dimming too. Just a new learning curve for most of us. Can't wait to see it come together.

Me too 98...the engine bridge lift is pretty well build. Bought it as a birthday present on HRPT last year and just broke it out of the box.

Thanks 99! Second 99R46 box went much faster. A good friend talked me into an LS swap on my '56 and we've been really happy with it. It has been a learning curve for me too...fortunately I have him to help.

I hadn't either Jim and I was tired of stressing every time I installed an engine next to a nice firewall. Only bad part on this one is it is specific to LS.

Today I took the 99R46 boxes to a buddies shop so he can make the cover lids for them. He is a talented metal shaper, has a really nice shop, and wow...a 300 foot long building full of personal vehicles / projects, customers projects and many Chevy truck parts. His Dad is REALLY into 60 - 66 Chevy / GMC trucks.

Think that is a Yoder he is putting together R46. He has been full time doing restorations and has been focusing mostly on metal shaping the last few years. Really talented young guy with a great future doing this. Really focused.

That set up is exactly what I'm striving for. Though my stuff is all scattered, under multiple roofs if any and not one fully complete garage!!!! It takes alot of time and effort to gather the buildings, tools and knowledge to do this stuff. Getting a tow rig, trailer, space, all the spare parts and project cars......its all a time and money consuming thing. But as we tell our loved ones, atleast we aren't alcoholics or drug addicts! Just craiglist junkies, and parts addicts. Very nice stuff he's got goin on.

Well said 99, it does take a lot of time, effort and money to gather everything together for this hobby of ours. He is heading in a good direction.

Cool! 52Burb is an internet buddy of mine and somehow we have a wager going...whoever finished their Burb first (he is building a 52) would drive their Burb to the others house (1,500 miles) and the looser buys the cold brews.

x3...long time ago a friend asked me how much I paid for my MIG welder. He plays golf and doesn't build cars. When I told him $1,500 he looked a little shocked and asked if I would get my moneys worth out of it. So I asked him what he paid for golf the previous year. About $1,500 was his reply...and I am still using my welder. Many of us give up other things to do this.
