Re: Random pictures that you did not take.

A bunch of flatlanders headed out to Cotopaxi Colorado back in 16.
About half broke off and hit a Mexican restaurant in Salida. There was a massive fire up in those mountains back then.

That a great thing doing a long ride with friends. I've never done more than a few hours with a group

That was my last long ride. I’m getting close to being too old to ride like that anymore.
That was a fun trip. If I remember right we were out there for about five days. Lots of memorable moments.
The guy on the far left is a harley tech-( he left his scooter at home and was riding his dads Kawasaki) and the fella on the right owns a tow service. Both guys are named Mike.lol
The Tow Man is a super solid dude.Honest as the day is long and tough as nails… a great friend.

I sold the motorcycle to my brother last year.
I think his son is going to buy it from him when he saves a few dollars.

Yes, lots of damage. Can’t tell from my picture but there was a lot of fire and smoke.

Back in the late 70s-the mid 80s my dad lived in Salida and had a logging lease somewhere in the Saguache area. My brother and I were visiting him one summer when we were teenagers. We spent a few days at his camp. It was beautiful and peaceful there.
I really enjoy visiting Colorado.

I was through Saguache today going down to Monte Vista to the Wildlife Refuge to look at the migration of the sand cranes.

So quirky it's just too cool. Like Jay said, "This answers the engineering question no one asked"

While I'm thinking Motorcycles, here's another rare one's engine. Very ordinary, but could someone help me out with the pronunciation of this name, please?

I'd like to witness that migration. Do they carry green cards?

With 4wds we call them lifted. With cars we called it jacked up. Before tubbing became a thing and along with that the term "Pro-Street". These were "Street Machines" or even "Street Freaks"

Reminds me of a mistake I made that I won't repeat. I was hauling a motorcycle in the bed of my 91 C1500 and had it secured with ratchet straps, but I hadn't properly tied off the excess amount of the strap that I had left from securing the bike. I was driving down the road when I heard a loud "Pow" sound and the truck jumped up like I'd run over something. The excess strap had slipped down between the cab and the bed and wrapped around the drive shaft. It ripped the strap into while pulling down on the front panel of the bed. No aluminum here, it just put a slight depression in the top of the front panel.

Youch! I had one do that but it didn't bind. The straps was singed and glazed. Another time one went off the side and the rear tire ran over it. Same result as yours...POP!!. I stop and see a slight indentation on the bedside.

That is what happens whe you leave your tailgate down and back ito a pole. I have done it. I was pissed. I unloaded a 45 clip in it and parked it in front of the ROTC building on campus across from my dorm. They got a kick out of it, sticking fingers in the holes and tugging on the bullets stuck in the sheet metal.
That was a nice truck. 75 3/4 ton, burnt orange and white, 4' lift, 38' Gumbo Monster Mudders, and cold AC.
