Re: Project: Bad Bagged '68.5

I'm going to be running chrome 67 hubcaps on this truck, but I'm contemplating between stock 15" steelies and 20" centerline smoothies. They will be painted or powder coated an off-white/ cream color. Does anybody have a set of the centerlines for sale?

Body work looks great, nice clean gaps.

I agree go to Delmo for the smoothies....

When did you swap to the Dropmember? Last pic of the frame, it looked complete but still had a stock front crossmember...

Great work on your build so far.. I understand what it's like to not have much time to work on it.

Re: Project: Bad Bagged '68.5

I started a couple new projects. I have to replace the inner brace on my hood, so bought a piece from a board member and proceeded to drill out a thousand spot welds.

Added to my sticker collection. Thanks Keith (n2billet)

Speaking of Porterbuilt, I owe the following rear wheel tub mod how-to to him. Thanks for posting those pics in the Old Aux thread Nate!

Marked out the 3.25 inches I had to remove:

First Cut

Second Cut

Ready to tack. Notice the one relief cut required.

Bought some bedsides. Heres the bed just sitting there on wood blocks.

hey jlaird,

nice work as always. If you don't mind me asking, where did you pick up your bedsides and how happy are you with the fitment?

I got the bedsides from mikes bump and grind garage who is a board Vendor. His price was lower than anybody I could find. Since my bed is a total custom job, I really can't speak to the fitment. There isn't another factory panel attached to it except the tailgate. I quickly put it on and the fitment seemed good.

Yeah, Mike is a great guy. He's helped me out before with some recon on some parts.

Re: Project: Bad Bagged '68.5

I wanted to get people's opinion on something. I am going to make new inner bed panels that will have the same body lines as the factory ones do. I can do this by removing all the spot welds on the factory one and modifying it to fit the raised bed floor or I can leave the factory inner bedside panel in place and fabricate new ones to go over the factory one. Any opinions on which route to take?

I was planning to make new ones with the body line in them (squished down of course) but have them flush with the inside of the bed.....to cover the stake pocket recess....and I was going to bolt my wheel wells to these new panels to add an extra inch and a half to allow me to run a 12" wide wheel...effectively killing two birds with one stone instead of having to widen the wheel tubs...
