Yes, you must use the pitman arm that is designed for the steering box you chose.

Looking to buy a bracket from you. I have a 66 c10 and got a 77 power steering box with all the steering linkage. I assume I just need the bracket only?

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

If you are using the original steering column, you might find the tube and flange useful if you don't have a drill press and a welder.

I actually am going to use a different column. Either a aftermarket one or if I can find one to use. I kept the flanged tube piece. I have a welder.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

I am installing a tilt column. I dont know what year it is yet but I will find out. The engine is a 350 out of a '70 Camaro with power steering. Can I use the gear box and pitman arm from the Camaro or do I need to use truck parts? Will your plate work if I do use the Camaro parts? Thank you

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

received my package last Friday as promised, everything was packaged great and instructions are nice and clear I installed the steering box today and it worked great the only thing i did noticed was that in my frame 2 of the holes were next to existing holes and I ended up with 2 elongated holes will this be an issue?

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

You should have had only 1 elongated hole, but you should be fine as long as you used the supplied washers and torqued the bolts to 65-70ftlbs.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

I have a complete front cross member and power steering set up for a small block out of a 1971 truck. What will I need to purchase from you to make it all work?

It is going in a 1966 c10. Thanks. Also would like to put power brakes on it as well since the front end is a 5 lug disc setup. Thanks

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

You will need a steering box adapter plate. If you are going to keep the original steering column, you may need the tube and flange if you do not have a drill press and a welder to reuse the original flange. Then a booster bracket, but to use a '71-'72 booster you will have to elongate the holes slightly. This is why the '71-'72 boosters are not on the list of compatible boosters. Will you need the standard booster bracket, or the one with the hydraulic clutch conversion? And in bare steel or satin black powder coat?

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

If you need just the steering box adapter plate the price is the same as in post #1 of this for sale thread........$60.00 shipped. If you also need the tube and flange the total is $81.65.

I will also send you a PM.

So I know I need a power steering spacer bracket and a power brake booster bracket. I would like the booster bracket in black powder coat finish.

The other question I still have though is can I use a steering column out of a 67-72 in the 64 truck when I am converting to your spacer. I have everything from a donor truck. I am still not sure if I will have to cut the shaft and flange or just use the entire donor column?

If I still need to cut the flange I guess I will need one of your flange kits as well. I am ready to paypal you for what ever the total price is. Thanks for your help!

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

I am currently out of powder coated '63-'66 standard booster brackets. I should have more in about a week.

The '67-'72 steering column will be the correct length for a power steering box from the firewall forward, but I do not know if it is the correct length from the firewall rearward. I have never installed a '67-'72 column into a '63-'66.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

Just finished a PS swap on my 1966 GMC w/ 305 v6 using Captn's brackets.

I ordered a rebuilt 1978 steering box online from AutoZone, free shipping and 20% off. The core return was to a local store so no shipping.

On the template that comes with the kit I cut out the holes marked existing. Taped the template to the frame and center punched the new hole locations.

I was going to weld a collapsible shaft in but the one I had was too long.

After I had the gear and shaft all mounted I tack welded the plate to the frame, removed the box and welded it up solid. I used the old holes as plug welds. OK, yes I'm a bit compulsive.

Capt. Any update on a 62 kit. Also would it be best to wait until the cab is back on to make sure everything is lineing up. I'm on bare frame right now, about ready to put co trol arms and steering back in.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

Sorry but no I do not have an update on the '60-'62 steering box adapter plate. Despite all my efforts for the past few years, working 80 hrs a week every week, every month and not being able to keep up, I just do not have any idea when I may be able to get to it. All I have to offer is what you have recently seen in a couple other threads. I have not installed a steering box onto a '60-'62 frame, so there are no installation instructions nor a template.

Yes I would advise to have your cab in place so as to have a reference as to the position of the steering column.
