Re: Project truck dream 65"
ok, i just last week gave the same ones 60-63 style to a guy in a trade for a oem fan shroud and radio knobs and odds and ends. i had them things for over 10yrs as my build is a 65 stepper and the dont fit. i can give you his number or i can call em for you, he's in michigan as am i. i met him on CL's and kinda bet em up on the the awesome pick, but i did give him the sail panels that were in great shape no dents just needed to be polished and a set of SS trim around the windshield so we both made out

Re: Project truck dream 65"
Last night I found a set of 61-63 sail panels....,reconditioned originals ! Paid dearly for them but worth it.Tough to find these in good shape, there getting rare.
To buff out the scratches, remove small dents and then polish these would take a fair bit of time not to mention the risk in damaging them in the process.Once again well worth the money paid. I was up in the air with running period correct trim, but at this stage with my build.......period correct, don't think its a deal breaker ? I will need the screws and mounting hardware. If anyone knows where to find them, please let me know. LMC is showing 4 retainers and screws which is confusing because whenever I look at the other repo kits online,I see 2 bars (with a hole in each end) and screws. I have never seen these up close and mounted,so Id appreciate the input here, and detailed pics of these panels/hardware on and off the truck would be appreciated

Re: Project truck dream 65"
I have a pre 1980 steering box and want to find a pump thats compatable with it in the Type 11 style.
There are a number of these pumps that look exactly the same, but being that its for my 65 on a sb 400hp,Im confused with high flow, low flow and most of all,a part number! I need to confirm fitting sizes at both ends so I dont order this twice...and any suggestions on a braided hose kit as well. I'd appreciate some input from those who know for sure. I posted a couple pic's here of the pump I want to use.........possibly running this type resevoir if I have the room under the alternator. Attached Images

Re: Project truck dream 65"
The 2 bars you talked about are what you need. They are just a couple of flat pieces of metal, and the one side is curved up a little, so the lip of the sail panel tucks under it and holds it on. Then get some stainless sheet metal screws with a wafer head for the door opening holes. The screw on the rear of the cab needs a tapered seat. Keep building, I have been following your thread all along.

I do have a set kicking around. I will see if I can get the time tomorrow and dig them out and take a couple of pictures and get some measurements for you.

Re: Project truck dream 65"
Finally,a decision made yesterday.............Comp -Cams UltraPro full roller rocker.
I was looking at the High Energy die cast version as an alternative,but...naaa. More money than I should be spending but I want those valve covers bolted on and to be able to sleep at night !

Re: Project truck dream 65"
My bud has a couple 63s,one is finished the other is the next project for him to pour all his money into.Just for the record,Im good with one !
Never even crossed my mind until a few days ago that its a custom with all the trim... I would never have guessed the mounts sit where the do.I took measurements so this would be a one shot deal with no guess work. 1" down from the roof drip cap,on inner edge...,4 3/4" top of mount to door jam and 3 3/4" bottom of mount to door jam .Hope this is helpfull to those who are adding the trim like myself.

Re: Project truck dream 65"
Just before I had my Captain Fab booster bracket painted,I had a nut welded either side so I could later cap it to smooth that area out a bit.
So today was a good day to spend some time in the shop.A salvaged piece of 6061 angle did the trick. A little elbow grease and some buffing ate up 3 hours.

Re: Project truck dream 65"
Seems like Im all over the place with the build now that I had a little time off at work.
All of the 'do next things' that are in the back of my mind when I'm working seem easy enough.......,truth is I spend most of it trying to decide what to do next than moving ahead....... Anyway,I saved this pic from some time ago and I'm wondering if this steering column cover was an option or if I have to build it.If anyone knows the answer, let me know. I have seen this more than once and felt It was a nice way to clean up this area.I will have to slot it for my auto column linkage..,.no big deal.

Re: Project truck dream 65"
That steering column cover is the first I have seen like it.
Mine mounts the other way, to protect the shaft from road grime. I wonder if they mounted it upside down on purpose?
