Re: jimbosprint 1972 C20 - the good, the bad, and the ugly

I finally got the original style deluxe cloth seat cover for my truck!

Should I put it on now or wait until I paint it? Seat cover that is on there isn't bad.

The cover looks great. Personally I couldn’t wait to get that on the seat.

I don't think I could wait personally. Then again, I do have a parts stash that keeps growing....

Another vote to put 'er in! Pretty easy to do, and is an instant gratification project. Plus, if you paint the interior later it doesn't take much time to pull the seat out. Just did mine recently and am very happy with the results.......

Subscribed. Love seeing a normal build with a truck being used as it was intended.

Nice truck! And you use it, hope I get as much pleasure out of mine when I'm done.

Uh oh, I made a shiny spot in this faded original paint. Guess I'll have to polish the whole truck!

Re: jimbosprint 1972 C20 - the good, the bad, and the ugly

I used a clay bar on the paint this morning. Doesn't look much different, but it feels smoother. Now to hit up Harbor Freight for a DA buffer so I can really get to work.

Window regulator replacement turned into a complete door rebuild. These vent windows are a pain. Work in progress:

Lookin good.
It’s great getting your windows back together and cruising windows down without them rattling in the door.

Re: jimbosprint 1972 C20 - the good, the bad, and the ugly

So I'm not thrilled with how the window sweeps and channel fit. When you roll the window all the way up, it catches on the sweeps and pushes them up a little bit. I might try bending the sheet metal where they attach and see if that helps. It's also just very stiff and not really a big improvement over the old window regulator. Feels like it will break.

Polishing the paint continues... slowly. Cowl looks much better with less rust. The front and underside of the drip rail is nice and shiny again.

A little more progress. I got the cab back all around the window, and the driver side cab corner and rocker done.

Great progress brother. I wanted to finish this polish up step on our 71 but just never upped the motivation to do the roof and bed. Looks really deep again love it.

Also I have the same issue with my window sweeps but I just let it be myself. Just seems to be common

In the past few days I polished the passenger rocker/cab corner, inside the front of the bed, and the tailgate.

Re: jimbosprint 1972 C20 - the good, the bad, and the ugly

Thanks guys!

I just did the driver side of the bed this morning. I guess I'm saving the fun stuff: I have to take the inner fenders off to get to the fender badges, and I have to rebuild the passenger door.

But it's starting to look really clean from certain angles!
