Thanks for the info on the classic vehicle insurance
I'm also wondering if there is such a thing as a lower rate farm truck insurance....being that my '72 would also be used for work....and its only worth about $3k so i don't really need the classic stuff....but if it is cheaper.....

I couldn't live with limited miles, so I had the truck appraised ($14,000.00! Surprised the Hell out of me!) and insured it with MetLife for a stated value for about $700.0 0 a year here in Phoenix. That means it starts out worth that much and depreciates from there. I'm going to get it appraised every other year or when I do something major to upgrade it. Least this way if it gets cubed, I can buy another one from one of you guys and start over.

Is that the way all stated values work... they depreciate yearly?

I have insurance through mendota, and its 525 for 6 months with my 72 and the 99 monte carlo on it, its liability only, and on a real ****ty record...owi...speeding...fenderbender, all things that don't make insurance companies happy, so i was happy with my rate. proof positive that being stupid doesn't pay

If I understand the insurance world correctly, values deprciate with time and can be either accelerated or mitigated by vehicle condition. Without a stated value, the insurnace company will typically treat your truck like very old used car- worth next to nothing. Had it happened to me before when my Dodge was totaled. With a stated value policy and a valid appraisal, you've got a starting point for value less any depreciation and a real good chance to come back at the insurance guys if they try to low ball you. Of course, you pay more for it but it's not as bad as insuring a new set of wheels!
Get a good indpendent agent who'll work for you in setting this up. Quote:
