i like all 67-72s but if i have the choice i will take a gmc over chevy any day

I like the looks of my 70 GMC. My 71 Chevy actually has a 71 GMC grill/core support, that I plan on switching to a 69-70 Chevy front. The Chevy front has grown on me.
Krue, I always understood rear leafs standard, rear coils optional on GMCs.

I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm

I've been going back and forth with the GMC vs. Chevy thing. I bought a '71 GMC SWB 4x4 to rebuild/restore. I'm partial to the chevy grills, but I have a almost perfect GMC front cap. I will probably end up selling it after I'm done restoring it, and I think it will sell easier as a Chevy, but I don't have any Chevy fenders. Should I find chevy fenders and make a chevy out of it or just use my GMC stuff? Right now I'm leaning towards GMC.

Everyone has there perferrences.
I also like all the Chevys and GMCs. I used to not like the GMCs much cause of the large chrome grill. But it has grown on me and I like it too. WHich is good since I bought a GMC last year. Since then I have learned alot about them and there just aren't very many GMCs around as compared to the Chevys. I know of 3 "living" near me and have seen atleast 3 or 4 periodically in driving around my area. But there are quite a few Chevys running around. IMO the 67-72 GM trucks are the best looking trucks ever made. One book I read said GMCs for the most part were standard with rear leaf susp and optional on coils. And that GMCs were considered as work trucks with the "heavier duty" leafs, and the coils as light duty use. But there was supposedly some controversy/disagreement on this back then. I just like the overall body style of both the Chevys and GMCs period, which is basically the same. My '70 GMC has the black painted style 71-72 grill rather than the all chrome one. Not sure why unless it was at some time changed by PO. It was made in Mar '70.

according to my sales brochure on my 72 the leaf springs were the standard and the coils were the option. i too have read much in reguards to gmc's being workhorses. that is why i'm told that there are so few left as they were basically used for commericial uses. i also had heard that gmc's were more expensive and heavier trucks than chevy. hey this is not to say that i hate chevy or nothing. i love them both. i just like to be different!

Its true that the GMC is a better truck. It is a better line of trucks than chevrolet.They are rarer ,but dont bring as much value as a non standard chevy.I would like to have a 4 x 4 Jimmy 67 - 72.I kinda like the grill on the GMC also.It looks kinda mean.All I have to say is these trucks beat ford , dodge, or any other .So be proud of each others trucks because they all are the best!Chevy and GMC are family, kinda cousins ,and family should stick together.

Mine is a 72 chevy w/coils in the rear. I do however like the 67 GMC nose and I am thinking about changing to that nose.
It's just what you like. Mix and match until your happy. JMHO Troy

Right on CPNE!! LOL I have a '67 GMC, and I like the front end. I also really like the 67-68 Chevy's. IMO the chevy's have a smoother cleaner look to them, the GMC's just look angry. It all depends on what look you're going for. In other words, nobody in their right mind would pull out in front of a GMC, especially as my dad would say one with two or three different color body panels because 1. they can tell you don't care what your vehicle looks like, and 2. you know how to change sheetmetal!

I've always liked Chevys. The first Chevys I really liked were my Dad's old '79 4x4 Suburban, and my Grandpaw's old '70 3/4 ton Fleetside, which I have now.

I was just saying that I like the ride of the coil rear end better. I am aware however that GMC make trucks with coil rears. They are just a rare breed. Just like Chevy trucks with leaf rear ends are few. Darren

67 gmcs are cool because they are really really rare, at least here. But I would just leave it whatever that particualr truck was when it was built. They all look fine to me.

I've always had chevies because that is mostly what I have seen for sale. There is a 68 GMC short step in central Vermont I have been hounding the owner to sell. He said he is going to put his Harley in the back, a 6 pack of Pabst Blue Ribbon on the seat, and be buried in it. Won't tell me where he will be buried...
