that is my all time dream car too. if i ever were to score big cheese $$$ i would get one in a second, real or glass. my old boss at triton boats "roarke summerford" has a real and a fake one, he patented the tunnel v hull design for racing boats "rich man". i like his repo one better than an original, but he took it to our r&d dept. at work (which is full of fiberglass guru`s) and they pimped it out big time.

To be honest with you I didnt see any thing that said Granatelli on it. And I know for sure it didn't say paxton. About the only thing I remember it sayin was Cobra on it. So I don't really know for sure what kind it was...Later Mike

Don't know whether you are referring to this particular car or not but this is an original car. As previously stated. The original ones first came through with a small block. Someone correct me if I am wrong but didn't some of the early one's have the 260 V8? Anyway, the 427SC Cobra's came later. I myself wouldn't mind having a repo glass one with a later model injected 351W,5 or 6 speed with a paxton or vortech supercharger.

I had the oportunity to ride in a real 66 427SC Cobra about 10 years ago. Nothin' like it on earth. Period. It smoked my friends 67' 427/435 tripower Vette roadster(another NASTY car). It also mutilated his LS-6 Chevelle.

i'm the biggest chevy freak you will ever find....but shelby cobras are the baddest freakin things ever. i have seen 3 fake ones....but never a real one. carrol is my idol and would LOVE to meet him. my teacher at school has met him but he is like 2938593855 years old and on his third heart so i doubt i'll ever get the honor. as for 0-100-0 in 10 seconds? aint happenin....you would have to be jumpin on that thing so hard the tires would be vaporized and i dont see it happening.

I don't think the supercharger was a factory option. I knoe ford sold these over the counter, but never installed them from the factory. Granted, I know this is not a ford product...but I THINK I read that it was the same on the a.c. Cobra also. Shelby did install a super charger on ONE mustang before selling, and instead of blue on white, it was sold with white stripes on daytona blue paint. It was the GT350SC. Only one built. I have the article on it somewhere.
The very first A.C. Shelby Cobras did in fact have the 260 in them. I can't remember how many...but it wasn't many before he started the 289 models.
While the big block cars took all the media attention, many racers said they were too much for the track, and prefered the small block equipped cars. Too much weight on the nose and not enough traction was the #1 complaint.

I'm just going by what Carrol said himself. Acording to him, all the mags and all the testing...and the best anyone got on the 0 - 100 - 0 was just shy of 14 seconds.

It's kinda fallen into the same lines as the '77 'lil red express. Everyone says it was the quickest american production vehicle for that model year, but it isn't true. The prototype would have been, but the truck faild to meet fed emissions standards so it got a milder cam which dropped it down a notch and the Vette took the honors. However, 99% of the ppl still think it is true, and esp the Mopar guys.

I read an article in Car and Driver not too long ago about Shelby. Carroll still has the original prototype Cobra in his possession!!! Won't sell it, have to wait till he dies and a relative sells it. I am pretty sure the blower was an option on the SB cars, but not many were made. The one I drove had Goodyear Bluestreaks on it, about 12" wide on back, and they would smoke till you let off the gas, all 4 gears, to at least 65mph. Very scary ride for a leadfoot.

He was interviewed earlier in the summer on one of the Spike car shows...I think it was that funkmaster flex one... his garage is awsome. He has at least one of every model shelby ever built. From the AC cobra, the the cobra mustangs to the FWD dodge cars....truely awsome collection.
Interestingly enough, the one that is his favorite is an 80-something silver 2 door omni/turismo/shelby thing...the little silver with blue stickers 2.2 non-turbo. (I found that part odd myself) An older woman calls him up one daz and offers him this silver Shelby dodge that was in perfect shape. She takes it to him and she tells him how much her husband loved the car and would never even consider selling it onless it was to Carrol himself. The guy had just passed and the widow could not think of a better way to honor her husband than by giving it to carrol.
Carrol was touched by this, and even though it is pretty much the most booring shelby made, (his words...not mine, although...I do agree) this car is now the most important one to him.
