A month ago I was on here all the time, but I haven't been on here much lately, either, now that it's getting to be nicer weather. I c-notched my frame this weekend out in the driveway. Neighbors loved that. Anyway here's my '69. I've had it 5 years and so far I've added PS, '71 PB, '72 open rear, '71 tilt, reinstalled original A/C (will be working soon, hopefully)and short water pump and put alt back on driver's side(took 3 years to find all the brackets and pulleys), dropped it 4.5" rear, 4" front, and just got 17's w/ my taxes. It's got a Maaco paint job 'til I can finish the mechanicals. Plans are to install 700r4 this fall if I have the cash. It's got a 350 ci and TH400. Gets old driving 60 on a 65 or 75 mph highway. I know I just hit the big 3-0, but I really feel like an old man being the slow one on the highway.

Lurker no more

I've been the ultimate lurker for a loooooong time, but decided to actually register myself today. So... here I am.

And here's my Wallet Eater (picture is actually getting pretty old-- time to get some new ones of the truck posted)--

When I posted this, you had 626 views and 32 replies. One in twenty posts a reply. There must be a lot of guys like me: looking for information with a limited amount of information to offer. Someday I'll have my whiskers, and will help the others learn what goes where and how to get it there. Thanks to all of you who are supplying my education.

Wheels are 17x8 on all 4 corners. When you drop a stepside this low, you don't get much clearance on the rear wheels. Backspace on the wheel is 5", but the rears have a 5/16" spacer on them (I'm not kidding about how critical the measurements are on a stepside ).

Fronts could have been wider but 1) that would look silly with wider wheels in the front, and 2) more than about an inch wider and they would start to rub on the lower control arm during turns. Actually I can get them to rub now if I cut the wheels all the way.
