They did put 454 in corvettes in 71', so I'm shure they are ramhorns out their somewere for them. Im not shure when the 427 came into place with the Corvettes.

ive had both rams horns and blockhugger headers over the past 10 years and i would pick the rams horns any day over the blockhugger headers.

I was told by an older hardcore Chevy guy that ram horns are definatly the way to go.

the main problem that i had with the block huggers was trying to stop them from leaking.they leaked where they bolted onto the heads and also where the engine pipes bolted on to the collector.they was made made by a company called genie.

They ran cast iron manifolds. Rams Horn is a name associated with the look of the exhaust. They "look" like Ram's Horn. They were called manifolds.

I have been using headers for years and never knew the Long Horns were this good. Never had any leaks with any of the headers I ever had except maby a gasket leak.

OK, from reading the posts and following the links I've come to the following conclusions:
- 2-1/2" ram's-horn manifolds are preferred. - Any manifold with the straight-down outlet will require engine frame mount modification to fit. - Manifolds with the angled outlets will fit with no problem, although I'm wondering if this is subject to the truck being 2wd or 4wd. - There are no new 2-1/2" manifolds with angled outlets. Am I on track here? Did Chevy ever make 2-1/2" manifolds with angled outlets? If not, I would think that a set of 2" manifolds could be improved by opening up the inlets and then extrude-honing, but this could get pricey. I think I have a set of angled 2" somewhere in the basement... Brad |

I have my doubts anyone could tell the difference between the 2 and 2 1/2" manifolds by the seat of their pants dyno though Ken.
