What's wrong with the stock computer? It works in a Suburban, why wouldn't it work in a truck?
Ok.... PAW—0.527/0.553 lift, 224/234 duration at 0.050 tappet lift. I can find you more if the price is still $200 for everyone I show you.
My paypal account is captkaos@charter.net

Please, I have been working on BBC for 15 years... 400hp out of a stock BBC is a joke, and that is just a cam change and decent carb in intake. They are built for TORQUE from the factory. It is the SAME engine that comes in every performance vehicle, the heads, intake and camshaft are different. Need some "readable truth"....

The stock computer is fine.... In the suburban. You are putting it in a 73-87 truck. There will be things you will want to removed unless you want a rolled up mess under the hood. Plus, there are things you will want turned off in the ECM that work with the ABS, torque controll etc... that the 73-87 won't have.

BTW, I sell and install STS Turbo kits on the 99-05's, so I know a little about computer problems and reprogramming. I am not talking about what I have read, and neither is Russell or N2TRUX.

I dunno how common this swap i into these trucks, but for a similar style swap search the net for the ls1 swap into a first gen camaro. in the very least it will give you a good idea of what all is involved.

off the top of my head, your goin to need:

engine/trans
motor mounts
trans crossmember mods
driveshaft
computer work
tons of wiring work
ac and heat
mods to the pb and ps sytems
rewire all the trucks original electronics inot the new setup
fuel system
all new hoses
reworking shifter linkage?
etc, etc, etc,

and not to burst your bubble, but i've never heard of rocket surgery, maybe rocket science or brain surgery? but anywho, it is a complicated swap. i dont doubt your abilities, but you definately need to budget yourself some more $$$. plus nothing ever sticks to its budget right??

Then you should know you can't get 200hp with just a cam. A cam, carb, and intake, maybe, but not just a cam. This is irrelivant anyway, because I don't 400hp nor a carbureted 454 that drinks gas like it's water.

In the absolute worst case with the computer, Megasquirts are only $140.

That's what I thought..... you know everything all already......

BTW, Megasquirts do cost around $140....... For the controller.

Good luck.
