Every day it seems the price of gas goes up where I live, at the same station too.
Sucking the money right out of our pockets I say. Here comes $4.00 a gallon real soon. Oh we stubbed our big toe, gas goes up a nickle.........

Let's see, if the oil companies are supposely paying $70 a barrel and a barrel contains 46 gallons--with about 45% can be refined to to Gasoline and the rest to heating or dielsel---That's a 300% gross profit. Who is making the BILLIONS and who is allowing it to happen?? George W. has the balls to sign a energy bill that opens up more of the Alaska federal lands to oil exploration but when it ships down the alaska pipe line into the golf of Valdez and into a tanker--do you think it sll ships to the lower 48??? NOT!!! George W. is the second biggest A@@ H@@@ that occupied the white house in the past 20 years. Gas prices in Ky as of last night $2.89

If I remember right and I am sure I do, the Oil Companies and the Govt is kinda like married. Or at least the best of friends.

Its abour $3.49 for regular, $3.69 for mid grade and $3.89 for 93 octane.
That's in central Virginia. Up in the DC area it usually runs about 20 cents higher for each than it does down here, but haven't been up there since the prices started going up like a rocket. Takes my '99 Toyota Solara a half tank to drive to work and back, I get just short of 30 mpg, its abour an 18 gal tank (I think), so its almost $38 to go to work. Good thing I go up for three days at a time or it could get ugly fast.

First, oil is a global commodity and prices are driven both by supply & demand, and by speculators who buy oil futures - okay, also occasionally by greed & gouging. You want in on the profits, buy oil stocks. Second, although GW is a Texas oil man, I suspect that in spite of his current position, he has a lot less power than we might think when it comes to determining the price of either crude or fuel at the pumps. Let me also add that more oil production and more refineries will help ease the situation, but nobody seems eager to support them. And of course it will take years before they can benefit us much, even if development were started today.

Demand is up. The U.S. has not increased the capacity to refine oil into gasoline since the 70's. The refineries are running at 98% capacity. They have surplus oil that they can't refine fast enough. When one minor hiccup occurs, a refinery has a fire or a hurricane takes a refinery off line the price shoots up. It it simple economics. Supply verses demand. When the supply decreases (Hurricane Katrina shuts down refineries along the gulf coast), with demand steady (everybody is consuming at the same rate), the price goes up. You want cheap oil? Write your senator and/or representative. Demand that they tell the environmentalists where to stick it. Start drilling in ANWR, build more refineries, increase the supply. OR. Park your gas guzzling truck. Buy a hybrid that gets 60mpg thus decreasing the demand - which will decrease the price. It is simple economics. You can't badmouth a politician claiming it is his or her fault and expect the price to magically go down. I last filled my truck in July. It doesn't make sense to drive a vehicle like that with these gas prices when I have a more efficient car to drive. On top of that I started car pooling to work. Do I like to car pool? No. Is it a responsible act to do it? Yes. I limited the use of my bass boat. My pontoon is much slower but it uses WAY less gas. Do I like fishing out of my pontoon boat? Not as much as my new Triton. I have decreased my use of gasoline. Part of it is an economic decision. Part of it is a civil responsiblilty WE ALL HAVE. I ask Huck and everybody reading this: What have you done to decrease the price of gasoline?

I say we all ban driving for a couple of days. My dad works for Shell Oil Refinery here in Deer Park, TX. He even recommended that everyone not go to work for a couple of days as a nation in protest of gas prices and see what the government does then. I do not wish to state my political opinions on here and I voted for the man of this state, but, everyone in government is there solely to set themselves up for when they are elected out of office. Think how many politicians are invested in oil. They do not care. They have infinite amounts of money due to oil stocks to pay for these prices. They are just getting rich at our expense. My .02 cents.

Shift to a 4 day work week 10hrs per day. That way your using 20% less gas to get to work. Do what the europeans do. close the stores on Sundays. Less shopping, less spent on gas. Goverment has a lot of control over these things.
Now, we all know the odds of any of the above happening are 0 A 4 day work week sure would be nice though.

$6.56 a US gallon here in the UK with diesel even more at $6.78 a gallon, and you think you've got it bad, try running a 350 at these prices hence my daily driver is now a 2.8l turbo diesel Isuzu Trooper which at least gives 30od MPG without being the size of a shopping cart.
