Re: 454HO, my story and project pictures

I was going back through some of my old threads and realized I never finished this one.

So here it is - closure.

After much thought I finally came to the realization that this long bed was not what I really wanted. It needed a LOT of body work to get it into good shape. So I made the decision to strip the parts I had put into it and scrap the hull. I found a local guy that sort of specializes in parts for these truck to come haul off the carcass. Here are the final pics.

Rest in peace, '77 Silverado.

I have since picked up an '86 Scottsdale short bed. It will receive most of the parts that were originally inteneded for this truck.

It's like watching the end of Father of the bride with Steve Martin!

But, now... the '86 to bring to life!

You already got a thread for it?

Re: 454HO, my story and project pictures

I have one of those super sucker spacers on my 496 in my chevelle and it actually added I think 17 horsepower @ 6700 rpm on the dyno over no spacer. If my memory serves me right. It did lose a little torque though. Kind of wish I could add nitrous to that motor. It's the motor in my avatar.

Thanks. I really like the 73-80 front ends, and this truck was a BB from the factory. Unfortunately it just needed more rust repair than I was willing to deal with. Many of it's parts will live on, either in my '86 or some future project.

Here is it's replacment. Currently has a Vortec 7400 in it, but I plan to drop the 454HO crate motor from page 1 into it soon.
