Re: Got my rearend back!

I'm also wondering about the hanger pivot thing...looks like a piece to a 4-link, but it's on the spring..

Re: Got my rearend back!

Those are the front pivot for a set of Caltracs traction barswww.calvertracing.com. I run them too. Way better than the cheap slapper bars.

Re: Got my rearend back!

Lolife, it was already done like it is right now before I tore the truck down. The springs are de-arched a few inches also, so the flip would be way too low... On top of that, the rearend has to be below the leaf to run the Cal-trac bars.

Boxrods, I don't think it'll be an issue still. I've changed nothing suspension-wise from the way the truck used to be set up, and it wasn't ever an issue then. We'll see for sure though when it's together!

Here's a pic of it with this suspension setup, before I tore it apart.

Thanks for the link. I couldn't remember the traction bars that 87Shortwide was going with. It makes sense now.

I thought you had tubbed the rear inner fenders a bit to fit a wider tire. I figured the leaf springs was going to be the limiting factor on the inner tire. Should look cool with your those tires stuffed under the fenders.

That 'old' pic you posted is tight. Your new mods should be bangin.

Re: Got my rearend back!

12/26 Update

Progress over the holiday weekend and today was.... well, slow. Reason being is the little one pictured below. I picked her up Sunday morning, and she's become a "daddy's girl" with a quickness. Whenever I leave the room she starts whimpering, and of course my weakness makes me stay inside with her. LOL

Anyhow, here's the passenger side front suspension bolted toghether loosly (A-arms are on for good, but I just put the spindle on for picture purposes)

Here's the steering assembly with the box. (I'm a cheap bastard who won't go find a manual box, so I'll be strong-arming it for a bit)

The telestars bolted up on the rear, along with the rest of the Cal-Tracs installed.

One of my X-mas gifts, which just happens to complete the rearend build-up (not totally on, Mr. Gasket decided to put an unknown gasket in the packaged marked "GM 12-bolt") idiots....

Anyhow, hopefully I'll get some more time out in the garage tommorrow, and I can get this frame all buttoned up.

Re: Got my rearend back!

They are 205/70/15's. I had them mounted up from when the telestars were on my wagon, so I may have to adjust size when it's all said and done. We'll see.

Re: Got my rearend back!

Website looks good.
And, you gotta dig a fresh rollin' chassis...

But, man 'non-power' power steering and solid motor mounts...
You're going to end up with Popeye arms and loose teeth.

Lookin' tight...
