Re: Misc Performance and etc

Would the Victor Jr work OK on a basic truck 350 (72 vintage 185hp 4v motor) with mid 80's FI smog heads with an Edelbrock 1407 carb and economy headers hooked up to a granny-low 4sp in a C-20?

I was thinking of chucking some $$ at an air gap RPM .. but might be interested in that manifold if it will work on my setup.

On a basically stock motor I wouldnt, If your not planning any big engine improvements (cam,Heads etc I wouldnt even waste the time going the RPM airgap manifold) The Victor is more mid to more upper RPM performance. The other Performer RPM manifold would work with an adapter, I might even have one I'll toss in if your interested.

Didi you get this entire setup as a single system, if so could you look up the Holley part number and post or PM it. Does it have the wide band o2?

Planning a cam.. though I haven't picked the right grind yet. Heads are a thought, but I don't know about them right now cause I have braces for the girly comming up (unless you have a nice set of heads for a good deal too.. lol) I was thinking the Vic might be a bit much. I have a low-rise performer with a q-jet on the engine now. I have an Edelbrock 1407 manual choke carb sitting in my parts pile ... I plan on getting a set of headers in this process.

I could be interested in that second manifold (didn't see it on the first pass..) .. I'm open to suggestions also.. if going to a larger plenum manifold and the performer carb doesn't really buy me anything I may want to go a different rout ... just trying to get a nasty sounding rig that will snap your head back .. not neccesarily trying to get low ETs (especialy with a two ton sled of a C-20 .. lol)

If you want Nasty, The Victor Jr is a place to start, Cam recomendations, probally something with about a 230@.050, 550 plus lift, Even the Roller I have mentioned above 276/282 224/230@.050 & 503/510 lift, pricier but bigger payoffs, Heads, I just sold 2 sets, Set of Edle RPM's and a set of ProTopLine 220's. They went cheap right along with the 413sbc. The 350 is a good motor but to really take advantage of some serious HP out of it you need to spend some bucks, another alternative is a 383 stroker kit, heads for performance, some Darts, AFR's the list can go on. I have always had much better luck with single plane intake manifolds, but at the same token you generally loose some bottum end, one way to eleviate this is by stroking or running some good gears, I've run the victor on 283's, 350's, 413's and never really missed the lowend, I probally would have noticed it more so if I was gonna tow or haul heavy loads but these where street rods not hay haulers or boat pullers.

Kind of missed the part about your son, I hope all is going well for him, they do spring back pretty quick, I know what a broken leg feels like, and they only good part of broken legs are the girls that feel sorry for ya.

Thanks,he`s fine.Laid-up with a full leg cast for 6 weeks and a tutor coming to the house. Then 4 weeks in a walking cast. He`s talkin`to his girlfriend all the time on the phone, now.Maybe he`ll want to take the ride up,but kinda doubt it.He`s hating the crutches and it`s hard to sit cuz it needs to be elevated.

For Fuel injection there arent really that many sensors, TPS(already mounted), temp switch(already installed in intakes), Map/MAF Sensor (already installed), I think that is it with the exception of having to put an O2 Sensor bung in your exhaust for the O2 Sensor. And yes currently I do still have both and are available, there has been several emails going back and forth to different people wanting information but no commitments on either setup as of yet.

Between both setups the Stealthram setup although it looks the coolest the MPFI actually is a much better setup because of all the runners and the inlet for air is all equel to all cylinders, although not really any issue is that the Stealth setup will have a tendency to run a little richer on the rear cylinders because of the other cylinders are stealing most of the air before it can get to the rear cylinders. The Stealthram setup is a bit like a tunnel ram, the base is actually from a tunnel ram it runs better in the mid to upper RPM ranges but becuase of it being a fuel injection setup the lowend isnt truelly all that affected.

Bowtie, if it's not already spoken for you can consider the Holley Multiport Fuel Injection system sold. I'll PM you my address so you can give me a quote on shipping.

Thanks,
