Re: What did you get done this weekend????
Saturday I installed a raised steering arm on the front axle that will be going in my K5. It is from a 78 3/4 ton and that gets me disk brakes instead of the drums that were on the K5's 1/2 ton.
Sunday I got out late in the evening and corrected my steering on my K20. When I added more lift I needed to make adjust the adjustable drop drag link but just haven't got around to it. So driving was an adventure - I could take great left turns but took miles of room to make a right hand turn. Got it adjusted last night and now have full turning both directions.

Re: What did you get done this weekend????
Let's see I got a new windshield installed, plus the rear window I got from JC. I also 'prettied' up the dash bezel with some rattle-can flat black and aluminum paint. I'll post some pics when I get back home to the camera. I started her up and moved it around a bit... brakes are still crappy since I ran the MC dry while bleeding the rears... what an idiot. Weather was really nice, so I got the bike out and ran the snot out of it for a bit. Then yard work... but it was so nice anything outside was a treat.

I got the truck waxed up and ready for the first cruise coming up at the end of March. I'm so ready. I hate winter....

Re: What did you get done this weekend????
This weekend I got the left rear cab corner welded in. Looks really good for a beginner like myself(this means all the door gaps are equal all the way around). Ran out of argon/co, so spent the rest of the weekend cutting patches out of leftover floor pan patch panel for the right side of the truck (not as rusty so won't buy the patch), this morning I ordered the rest of the patch panels for the right side. Just like EBFABMAN says in his DVD, won't need any body filler. This leads me up to three questions though. First, when you guys weld up a panel, do you make sure there is not even a pinhole left where the two pieces come together? I weld, grind, weld, grind,
etc. Second, How do you insure you don't grind to the point you actually grind through the sheet metal? And third, al's71...when you installed the 3 point harness, does it use the existing outside seat belt mount? I'm thinking it doesn't so I never drilled the hole in my new rear floor pan. Thanks, Craig

Re: What did you get done this weekend????
I got a couple things done. Installed spacers in the rear coils, (got about 5" of lift!), installed a 2" trailer hitch ball with a 1 1/4" shank on the step bumper, wired up the trailer light connector, re-routed the antenna cable for the CB, pulled roof marker light lenses to replace bulbs and sealed 'em back up, cleaned out all the hay that was at the front of the bed, checked the oil level in the rear end, checked the engine/tranny for leaks. Gonna haul a lot of scrap metal today!

Re: What did you get done this weekend????
No work on my truck this week still waiting for more paint to arrive. I did get a load of big block stuff though. Got 3 396 blocks a 402 block, a bunch of heads, cranks, intakes, stainless valves, etc. One 396 is freshly machined and bored 030 with Speed Pro forged pistons. I even got the heavy duty stand it was mounted on. Paid $400.00 for the whole lot.

Robert, sounds like you need a K20 instead of a C20. Last edited by JAKES 68GMC; 03-13-2006 at 05:17 PM. |

Re: What did you get done this weekend????
Installed a tilt column, finished my 15x10's all the way around and got my A$$ kicked at a car show by a 60 el camino and a 69 swb. I deserved it tho.

Re: What did you get done this weekend????
We finally had good weather for a day Saturday, temps in the 50's. So I found out that a guy with a bum knee and a bad back can take the cab off his truck with only the trucks tire jack and some old barnwood planks. ( Please dont tell my chiropractor )

Re: What did you get done this weekend????
Bob D~ Don't worry we wont tell
Well I spent all weekend trying to finish up the "Tip & Flip Cab Dolly" so I can get back out into the shop and play some more. The weather was cold out and it would have been so nice to stoke up that wood burner in the shop and just get some work done. Oh well I should be back out their in a day or so. Kevin LFD inc. |

Yeah, seems like it right? The rear springs were shot so the spacers really helped it out. I might get a hold of a 4x4 K20/K30 soon though.
