Re: 50th Golden Anniversary Trucks

72 Custom Camper...it must be a magic number since I paid $85/yd for my material and was quite happy to pay it. I only needed 2 yd for the inserts in my seats. My big block Longhorn is getting the buckets I just acquired so it will probably get the vinyl.

Re: 50th Golden Anniversary Trucks

my door panels aren't white though they are gold as well and have the different style armrests, so maybe its not a 50th truck but it had the same paint scheme and looks the same as the other trucks inside except mine has gold door panels or brown i guess.

Re: 50th Golden Anniversary Trucks

Steve, the codes on the glovebox door will tell ya for sure I think the
paint code for a 50th is 625 if it's a 3 digit, and 4625 if it's a 4 digit

Re: 50th Golden Anniversary Trucks

stllookn,
Can you post a pic of what they sent you?
Is it the correct color of gold and does it have all the right size ribs in it?

lilpup69chevy,
I have two Gold Anni trucks one is a CST, the other is not but both trucks were originaly ordered with bucket seats
And the CST truck has gold metal door panels and gold 67 style arm rests

I have the 1968 Chevrolet Dealer Price & facts book, this is the book that the dealer uses when you go in to order your car or truck, it lists all options available, the cost, what option goes with what and so on.
Here is what it says about the Gold Anni

ANNIVERSARY GOLD IS AVAILABLE ON PICKUP MODELS EQUIPPED WITH CUSTOM COMFORT (Z62) OR CUSTOM SPORT TRUCK (Z84) AND / OR BUCKET SEATS (A50) FLEETSIDE MODELS REQUIRE CUSTOM SIDE MOLDING (B98).
PANEL TRUCK MODELS AVAILABLE WITH FAWN INTERIOR ONLY
SUBURBAN CARRYALL AND CHEVY-VAN HAVE FAWN OR PARCHMENT/GOLD

So to sum it up Gold anni was available on all light duty trucks.
And it did not have to be a CST.
In a pickup the only manditory option to get 50th Anni was bucket seats.

Re: 50th Golden Anniversary Trucks

That presidential button thing I have ties the 68 election year and 50th ann. Chevy trucks. (The year we elected Tricky Dick. -Go figure!)

I'd love to find one of those "Drive this 68 Job Tamer 50th Anniversary" door stick-on's. I've never seen any except in this drawing.

Great thread. I'm putting a couple of patches on a nice original seat I got from a member here and need some of the vinyl to match the original white--sources anyone?

Re: 50th Golden Anniversary Trucks

That drawing of the truck with the 68 job tamer sign on it is kinda cool. If you had an anniversary truck it would be a neat addition, maybe have one of those magnetic signs made up so you could put it on if you are showing your rig.

Not an anniversary model. Would have gold dash pad, visors, and seatbelts.

Re: 50th Golden Anniversary Trucks

Anyone have any literature for sale for the 50th trucks?

Would still like to see a brochure or ad with the K10 shortbed!

BTW, here's the SPID for my K10-posted elsewhere as well... the 2nd picture is when I was sorting out the little issues including plugged up intake manifold/re-sealing, rebuild the 2-barrel carb, and attacking the brakes. Great runner. If anyone has a 50th dash pad let me know! Would like to keep it all original-including getting the correct rims and tire size for 'er.

This info from burb71 basically sums it up. I recall one thread out there that shows a dealer availability chart. The bottom line was gold was a standard for '68 color ( literally used on thousands of '68's ) that came with some unique one year only interior trim features and the only hitch was color was not available on base models.

Mine has these, but has bench seat (solid white, no gold insert)

Mine has a chrome front bumper w/ the regular old pickup bumper (may have been painted silver?) w/ holes behind plate mount for hitch balls.

Had same side trim as pickup in post 41 (trim was beat to death, when I bought the thing in 1980)

Never seen anybody that sells the gold visors, dash pad, or belts.

Mine was in pretty awful condition when I bought it in 1980. Many a wise butt has told me to scrap it.....It may still be ugly, but I know what I've got....396, TH400, PS, PB, A/C. did not have posi, though, I can remedy that though...

Re: 50th Golden Anniversary Trucks

Dash pads and visors are replaceable. I noticed that truck has a gold steering column. Also an indicator but, also something that could have been painted.

I have been thinking about painting my truck back to the original gold someday but, I had thought about making it all gold instead of two tone without the trim. Anyone have pics of a truck like that?

Also, I have a gold dash pad but it is shredded. I know that no one sells these. Has anyone had one repaired?

Re: 50th Golden Anniversary Trucks

Did not know about the dash pads. The gold one in the '68 is getting ugly, and I was going to replace it with a black one.

Maybe I'll hit the "pause" button before I do anything......

Re: 50th Golden Anniversary Trucks

A 50th has 551 paint code on the SPID as well. If present, this removes all doubt.

Re: 50th Golden Anniversary Trucks

Mine was painted blue and then someone tried to repaint it to look like a 50th again. Missing most of exterior trim, custom emblems, and glove box emblem. Only remaining 50th original interior parts are the gold dash pad and white visors. Under the cowl it is the same color gold as the rest on here.
