Re: Is your truck modified?

I can appreciate stock, but growing up with that style of truck, I find stock to be somewhat HO-HUM, so modified interests me more. As for resale, with the price of gas going high, the trucks will have their ceilings in value (actually they already do have a ceiling)--no matter what we say or do. I plan on enjoying mine and the issue of selling it will be in the future.

Re: Is your truck modified?

Stock on the outside, custom on the inside. I love going fast, low and loud, but for some reason the cops don't. My '74 is going to be a total frankenstein of all years, makes and modles. Engine is out of a county dump truck, transmission is out of a Camaro and the rear end is out of a Ford truck.

Re: Is your truck modified?

when you say modified you gotta say what you mean.. mine came bone stock and i modified it by putting in a better interior aftermarket , a slider rear window , a trailer hitch, some rail caps, tool box, sport rims , and tinted the windows. I never made the motor beefier or anything except for having a shift kit put into the th400 trans when it was rebuilt..
to me modified would mean a high preformance motor . lowering or lifting, a wild paint job or the like

To me, yours is very modified, and I personally really like yours.

But yeah, what I meant by modified was the aftermarket wheels, drops, bags, paint (not a factory color), stereo, that type of stuff. Or for you 4x4 guys, lifts and big tires. Seems to be that that's what most people think when you say modified.

Re: Is your truck modified?

Every person to their own. Do it your way or this isn't America. The comment about a stocker fetching more money than a modified. The truth to that statement is that you will get more of your investment back than you will with the modified, Because the stocker cost so much less than the exotic goodies built truck. However, the modified provided that ego boost that most of us wanted without the "Plain Jane" look. As I said, I grew up with this model of truck and the design can grow old in it's stock form. There are so dang many of them around in all states of deterioration. I even know where there is a brand spanking new black 87 4X4 SWB is setting with 4 miles on it's odometer. It still has the plastic on it's seats and it is not for sale.

Yep, it is but I'm into the stockish apperance with just some minor twists. Under the hood they all look about the same.

Re: Is your truck modified?

As far as the side conversation goes i gotta say i think that these trucks are not the best to make money back on. true we all love these or like these trucks or we would not be on here. However i don't know if they are "true classics" I mean sure a 67 to 72 is but these just don't seem to be the same to me. i don't know why. they are sure old enough. Stock is great and i am all for it but since these trucks are so commen i think it gets alittle old. That is why i like slightly modified, because it sets you apart. Heck most contractors and landscapers around me are still using old c30's.

To there credit though my truck and any nicely done or stock 73 to 87 is gonna gets its fair share of looks and comments. Seems like everyone that talks to me at the auto shows or crusise ins has had one or there father had one and bring back memories. The comment i get alot is "i like your truck cause it is nice and simple" that is my favorite or the lady next door telling me "that has to be the boxyest looking car i have ever seen but i like it" I enjoy the truck the way it is and any mod i do is because i like it. I don't worry about resale value because i did not buy it planning to resale. and even if i do it is not gonna bring me backmy investment any ways. well it might.... point is i got it to enjoy and drive and not to make a profit on plus it has sentimental value.

Eather way it does not matter why you buy it just have fun and enjoy it!

Re: Is your truck modified?

Somewhat...

Originally a 350/350 SWB Cheyenne, it's well on it's way to becoming Drew's version of a Super Sport street truck.

F1 Procharged intercooled 350 w/Trickflow heads, demon 750 blow through. Tremec TKO600, custom Dana 60, lowered and Red! Custom billet dash w/autometer gauges, and so on.

Will look stock from the next lane over...
