Re: Look at this... One mans collection rotting into ground...
There is a guy like that here by me also. He has a whole yard full of 67-72 trucks, but will only sell the rotted crap, and wants your first born for that. I don't know what they are saving this stuff for.
There was another yard not too far from me. He only delt with antique cars. He had 5 acers of cars and trucks dating from the 30s thru the mid 70s. At the time I was building a 64 Plymouth Fury for my father. He had 5 of them. They were neatly stacked with tires between them. Chargers, Superbees, Tri 5 cars and trucks. Long story short, he died, and the cars were sent to salvage or auction. This is another guy who wouldn't sell the whole car or truck, and wanted your first born for the parts. |

Re: Look at this... One mans collection rotting into ground...
Check the address through the county tax office, some of that stuff is public record and maybe you can get a name to look up in the phone book. I think the records of the last sale/tax value of the property is what you want to find.

Re: Look at this... One mans collection rotting into ground...
You could also have a local realtor search the address, they have access to the tax records and owner names. Put me inline for two first generation blazers, when the rescue begins. It has to be done! Thanks and good luck.

Re: Look at this... One mans collection rotting into ground...
Recently, hot rod magazine has been showing photos similar to these pic's in various locations. They also often include stories behind the rotting vehicles such as the "not for sale" and "i am going to restore all of them next year".
I think Chip Foose has made a statement to the effect that the hobby is loosing some great cars to situations similar to this. Most of the time the owners of these rotting collections have some self image problems and to compensate for various personal shortcomings, they like to take pleasure in thinking they have some possessions that others want to own. Often times they would rather remain in poverty with the idea that others want their rotting vehicles.

Re: Look at this... One mans collection rotting into ground...
I'd take all them rotting 2wd blazers....
Well,I would take all the vehicles, sell the few I dont want, and keep and gradually fix up the rest... But d@mn,all them vehicles, and rare parts, and rare vehicles. If only it was in the southwest, then it would be a gold mine |

Re: Look at this... One mans collection rotting into ground...
Ok, you absolutely have to follow up on this...get in contact with someone..somewhere..even if you get the ole "there not for sale" crap!..
We have to have closure... There are alot of people doing that now...due to all the car shows and the BJ auctions...now everybody who's got something that's over 20 years old, thinks its worth a pot of GOLD!!!

Re: Look at this... One mans collection rotting into ground...
if you have the address you can go to the "clerks office" in the town hall and look up the deed etc - you can back track to see if there are any leins on the property as well
Of just put in an anonymous complaint to the town that the dude has a ton of unregistered vehicles in his yard that they aren't getting property tax for then kindly show up on his door a few days later and ask if they are for sale

Re: Look at this... One mans collection rotting into ground...
From what I have seen in similar circumstances, chances are this is a situation that the city/county is dealing with. I saw some homes in the background, so I think we can we assume there is a zoning violation. At the least there is an environmental violation going on due to the size and condition of the collection. I'm starting to sound all preachy and tree-huggy. But knowing how cherished all those vehicles are it is a shame not to put some effort into rescuing them. If you need help negotiating the beurocracy, I'd love to put my skills to use.
