Re: Newbie with a new build thread
I took the time cleaning and painting these springs till I realized that they are for the newer trucks. I guess I can use them on my 77. They are 2" lowering springs. I may not need them though. I think I am going to bag my truck. not sure yet.
This is after I z'd the frame and is sitting on the bump stops Last edited by 68chevy68; 06-13-2007 at 11:03 PM. |

Re: Newbie with a new build thread
I acually debated on just welding it up. I don't think my cab is going to be that air tight, but I am going to leave it. This in not going to be a show truck. I am saving that effort for my 1961 c-10. I want this as my daily driver.

Re: Newbie with a new build thread
Went out to the shop today to do some work on my truck and just could not find the motivation to do anything but look at it and just think of how much I have left to do. So neadless to say, I did not get much done. The driver side cab corner is where I am right now. I Had a spare floor to steel the rear floor corner to replace mine with. This is just a picture of the corner that is going in, it is just bolted in for the moment. I still have some trimming to do to make it fit. I think I will get it done tomorrow.

Re: Newbie with a new build thread
Funny you metioned the blue car. That is what I ended up working on today.
It is a 52 plymouth. I traded a set of centerline wheels for it.

Re: Newbie with a new build thread
I worked on my truck for a little while today. Did some trimming on the new rear floor section trying to get it to fit. Still have a little more trimming to do on the brace section and it will bolt right in and I can weld er up.
I also did a little more cleaning and grinding on the firewall getting it ready for filler and primer. The primer on the driver side is etching primer. I am not going to use any filler on that side. A few days ago I was tired after work and did not feel like doing much on the truck, so I had some markers laying around and did this..

Re: Newbie with a new build thread
Damn bro, you should start pinstriping. I like it. The hardest part is the creativity to think the striping up. I also have the same chevy purple lowrider on your shelf!

Re: Newbie with a new build thread
Thanks!!! I would really like to start pinstriping, I just have not had enough time to do any. That is the first one I have done to that scale. I really just started toying with it. That purple car is one of my favorite cars. I would love to have a 54 chevy coupe.

Re: Newbie with a new build thread
Yeah, they are some of my favorites too. I don't know what to do with the fox though. Not sure I can afford it. I have most of what I need to do it other than all the internal engine stuff.

Re: Newbie with a new build thread
Thanks. If you are refering to the drip rails, they are not shaved. I would like to, but I don't think I am ready for that kind of challenge yet. I have done both driverside and passenger side inner and outer rockers, I did shave the fire wall and cover the channel where the wires run, z'd the frame (not finished yet), raised the center tranny hump, installed bear claw latches (also not done yet) and have replaced one cab corner. The frame was done till I z'd the frame. I have a blazer tank to install. I still have a lot to do.

Re: Newbie with a new build thread
I really do wish they were. I may get brave later on in the build, but they will stay for now.

Re: Newbie with a new build thread
Thanks for all the complements guys. I have not had a chance to work on my truck for a while. I started a new job this week and have been busy with that. Parts of my yard have 3 ft. tall grass. I have so much to do....

Re: Newbie with a new build thread
Bondo is harder than it looks. I just don't have much experience with it. I have been working on my firewall for a while. Sorry, no pics just yet. My wife is on a trip for 4 days and I have my little girl, so not much is going to get done this weekend. Has anyone who has z'd their frame had problems with thier brake booster hitting the valve covers? I think mine are going to hit.. Also, the steering looks like it is going to be a problem too.

Re: Newbie with a new build thread
I've missed this until now. Welcome, and that looks like some nice work. Keep plugging away at it and you'll get there. The steering will need some modification depending on how much Z you have, not sure about the valve covers.

Re: Newbie with a new build thread
Well, I actually went out into the shop tonight and worked on my cab corner a little. I still have a lot of welding and grinding to do, but it is mostly done and there is no hole there anymore.
