Re: This has to be a FIRST, Chopped and Stretched
I like the stretch but agree with many that a chop may give it a "pancaked" look. And 14 in seems like a lot of stretch, but may work out nicely.I also think stretching the front sheetmetal would be cool. Are there any plans for mods to the bed? What are the plans for all the extra room behind the seats?I know if I moved the seat back 14 in I would need an extended leg to reach the pedals.Keep us posted. The concept and work looks great I will reserve judgement until I see more.

Re: This has to be a FIRST, Chopped and Stretched
I wouldn't chop the top with that much stretch for my taste. I love the idea of stetching the cab. I'm considering it (someday when I have a shop to work in again) On a 67-72 K30 build. I want to use a 133" WB 80's 1 ton 4x4 chassis that I have, and add 6" to the cab to make up the difference from the 127" 67-72 WB. I think I'll drop the floor "flat" if I can to get my head out of the roof.

As for the bed modifacations were still in the planning process there, the bed will have to be shortened a bit due to the stretch of the cab, ALTHO if we in fact do decide too strech the front sheet metal we my end up strechin the frame a bit as well to keep things looking proportionate. And were still brain storming for other ideas. Kinda like the cab I'm sure will think of something of the top of our heads and thats what will get done. Altho if anyone has any idea for bed mods feel free to share em. Quote:
I'll try to get some more pics up tonight of progress made today on the chop. Thanks for the replies and please keep em coming |

Re: This has to be a FIRST, Chopped and Stretched
I say if you can chop it, slam it, rake it, stretch it - it's just plain cool to be able to do it! I'd imagine the door hinge area would need to be re-enforced to handle the extra torque/weight? Reminds me of the big ol' doors on the toranados, lincolns and caddys. Telescoping column? I'd say "nay" on the sunroof - they just don't seem like a full size truck luxury....and the cloth fold back ones are just "cheap" looking to me. As for stretching the front clip, hinge the fenders at the core support and make them swing out to the side, away from where they meet the cab and front flip the hood. I say all this and can't get mine on the road (well, almost there)...
Welcome to the board! Don't be 3 week poster and stop posting pics... we like 'em!

As for the doors, they are getting suicided so the hinges will be reinforced then. The entire front clip will be getting a suicide hinge as well , however were looking into the possiblity of hinging the fenders seperatly and swinging them out as you described as well as streching the fenders and hood. The tele-scoping column wont be needed. We've had seats in it as it sits and everything will be well within reach with a nice seat of buckets. Oh and by the way, we ended up chopping it 7" in the front and 4 1/2" in the rear. Heres a few more pics. This was with just a 4 1/2" chop, wasnt enough so we kept going in the front Keep the comments coming guys as well as the ideas. Anyone know of any companys that sell complete Air Ride/Bags for our trucks? Last edited by BlkBoostedV6; 07-01-2007 at 08:52 PM. |

Re: This has to be a FIRST, Chopped and Stretched
I like the strech idea...personally I don't like chops on 67-72's. However, please post pics as the project continues!
