Re: Advice on putting a 6.2 diesel in a 72' K10

Run a 6.5 if you can. I have a 93 6.5 turbo K3500 it has 330,000 miles on and I drive it daily, towing occasionally, I get 17mpg around town and 20 on the freeway. There good motors it has no overheating problems even in 112 degree Cali weather while towing, if you do have overheating problems for cheap money you can buy the 97 up dual thermostat housing and 113gph pump. Most of the myths on this motor are wrong same for the 6.2. My 93 does have a mechanichal DB2 injection pump which is the same pump on the 6.2's, the later 94 and up 6.5's have DS4's which do have problems with the optical sensor for the timing. but there is a kit to convert to a mechanical pump. Check out Pennisular Diesel the make 18:1 pistons for 6.2's and 6.5's so you can run 20psi boost + safely on the motor and I promise it will outrun any powerstroke or cummins out there. I can outrun my buddys 94 cummins and all I have is a 3 1/2" turbo back exhaust no other mods. Theres all kinds of guys that build these 6.2's and 5's google search the motor youll find a lot of usefull info.
