Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

ill take a set as well. will the camaro calipers work on the caprice rotors? or will they have to be used on camaro rotors (diameter/thickness) because the camaro rotors are 5x4.75 bolt pattern arent they?

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

These brackets are built around Impala rotors, you'd need to find six lug rotors with the same depth hat as an Impala rotor and most likely have them turned down to the Impala thickness for them to work.

Hope you don't mind me jumping in Bob.

For 6-lug discs, it might be easier to adapt the 99~03 Chevy truck rear disc set-up.

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

Just a note on axles: I've got some aftermarket 5 lug axles - bought them used - and don't know who made them, but the rotors I have will have to be taken to a machine shop and turned. The center hole is not quite big enough. The rotor has about an 1/16 gap or so between the backside of the rotor and the mating surface of the axle.

This is with the Caprice 5x5 bolt pattern rotors from O'Reilly's. I think the Impala would be the same but there may be differences in rotor manufacturers?

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

Great job as always!!!

Just a tip for everyone that will be needing calipers..
Contact Fbody Motorsports, as they usually have them in stock (used), got a set from them when i converted my 3rd gen camaro to 4th gen rear end. cost me around $50 for the pair with brackets.

dsigh - Your on my list bud!

Chris - Don't mind at all, thanks!

Arad68 - Gotcha on the list now too.

brak - Thanks!

And as to what 69_hafton was talking about, I had to do that on my stock axles too. I got my rotors from www.rockauto.com . The arrow in the pic below shows where the clearance issue is:

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

A group P.M. has been sent to all those who have expressed interest in these. I will be posting an ad in the For Sale section shortly. I don't want to turn this one into a for sale post, so if you did not get a PM for me and are interested in a set, please send me a PM requesting pricing and other info on these.

Thanks to you all for your patience!!!!

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

Bob,

I know that you have me down for a set of the brackets (at least I think you do). Thanks! And I know that you have indicated that you are going to put out a parts list and instructions. So, maybe I'm jumping the gun on you (no pun on your handle intended). I'm just trying to get all of the parts (at least the list of them) together in preparation.

First off, use the Impala SS/Caprice 9C1 rear brake rotors (2 - one for each side - no, duh). Raybestos Part # 56450 {PG Plus Outside Diameter 11.61" / 5 Bolt Holes / Vented} Rear

Second, need the right and left rear Camaro Z28 PBR calipers. You said www.rockauto.com has them - Raybestos Part # RC10459 {PG PLUS} Rear; LOADED RIGHT CALIPER ASSEMBLY- (LEFT; part# RC10460) http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,ca...,parttype,1704
(I know the A-1 Cardone's are cheaper, but the Raybestos description had the best pictures. That's why I'm using them as a reference.)

The parking brake cables come separately. But, from the pictures, it appears that the parking brake bracket and return spring are missing. I looked on www.rockauto.com and couldn't find those parts. Am I missing something?

Thanks!

Thanks for posting that info! I will need to do some Hardy Boys work to find a source for new e-brake cable parts.

Paypal must be running slow Ken, it's not there. But no biggy, we got plenty of time! I'll keep checking it and let you know when it pops up on my account just so we can be sure there are no problems.

Re: For those waiting on Camaro caliper brackets....

Just got this email from Rock Auto....93-97 Camaro rear calipers anyone???

This email is just a reminder that your RockAuto discount code 675302608791 will expire on July 24, 2007. If you or anyone you know is thinking of doing some vehicle repair, now's the time to order the parts!

Which brand, how much and are they complete (i.e., with the parking brake bracket)?

Thanks!
