Yes, I used the standard flat circuit. I just trimmed the protruding studs flush with the nuts. A tach circuit would work perfectly though...

I changed my mind. Found a factory tach dash. Going to get rid of camaro tach.

I picked up a couple of camaro clusters for the tachs and was wondering about the volt meter. I took it out,, it has 3 studs out the back,, 1 looks like a mount and the other 2 look like connection studs. I took a 9 volt battery with test leads to see what the polarity would be and get nothing across the 2 connection studs but the needle will move when I connect the mount stud and one of the connection studs. Problem is that with a 9 volt battery the gauge heads towards the max peg,, 18 volts. I did not leave the wire connected for fear of frying the gauge.

How would a person connect this so it would work in place of the factory amp meter ,,,,,
is there a resistor needed ?

I will be using your tach install "how to" and would like to use the volt meter and also possibly the temp gauge in my pickup cluster.

No experience with the Camaro voltmeter- I used a cheapie from AutoZone. Sounds like you're on the right track. I wouldn't think you'd need a resistor, but the factory often times does things differently than I would

Is there a difference between the 6 cylinder tach and the v8 tach ? And if so ,, how do you identify them ?

Yes there is, and I don't remember how to tell for Camaro tachs.

What did you do for the plastic lense for the gauges?

Used the stock one. I think I had to polish off some painted-on lines

2nd gen, 70-something, though I don't remember the exact years. Get one that looks like the picture on the first page and you should be golden, just make sure it's from a v8 car--the v6 won't read correctly

This thread was extremely useful to building my cluster. Thanks for the info,hope others can use it too! I added vacuum and the voltage gauge as well.
Getting the numbers off the lens for the tach was trial and error. I ruined one lens till I found that "Goo-Gone" takes them off without hazing the plastic.
Difficult to photograph but it looks like new.
