Re: My 5 year 68 build is pretty much done
Dad really likes it now. He wants to drive it but I think Im going to hold off on that. Ive been hassling him to get his Caddy insured over the last several months so I can take it out. Once he gets insurance then we'll talk
Yeah, definitely not an overnight transformation, more like every bit of $$ I made and 5 years of my time, BUT worth it.

Re: My 5 year 68 build is pretty much done
i like your truck you did a great job on it...how's the partical board with the sub and amp treating you? are you having any problems with the board and carpet seperating? i want to do something similar with carpet because it looks really good. i'd put 2 10's or 2 12's and mount the amp inbetween probably. but your truck looks sick

Re: My 5 year 68 build is pretty much done
Thanks again everybody!
Dova, so far no issues with it separating. I used some spray adhesive on both sides, let it tack, and rubbed it in really good.

Re: My 5 year 68 build is pretty much done
I drove my truck for about a week and it was awesome!! Lots of looks and compliments. I even took it to a little car show in Farmers Branch. Didnt win anything, still need to finish up several small things, but it was cool. Got some new valve covers and air cleaner yesterday I need to put on. Pics later
Cant wait to take it out again and cruise! Also going to the Goodguys Lonestar show in a couple weeks. Im excited about driving around the track.

Re: My 5 year 68 build is pretty much done
Heres my new parts. I sure liked my Proform ones, but the quality apparently was horrible. I picked all this up for 120 bucks. Polished on them for an hour or so, but needs some more. I really didnt want any shiny stuff under the hood, but there wasnt many choices other than black or the same grey ones.

Re: My 5 year 68 build is pretty much done
Sweet truck. I almost bought those same valve covers because I liked the grey but I ended up with the Billet Specialties smooth ones. I painted the air cleaner top cast grey to match the engine. Too bad you had the problem with the finish on those Proform ones. They had the right look. I'd sand them down and shoot them with Eastwood's titanium.

Re: My 5 year 68 build is pretty much done
Its been too long since Ive been on here. I used a Vintage Air sure fit system. Fits great, just make sure you hook up all the wires, I screwed up and didnt attach everything at first, made for a mess when I got it charged, but it works good now.
I emailed Proform and finally got a response after several different emails. Ended up polishing them for hours and got a good uniform result, a little duller grey, but its uniform now so it looks alright. Used Wizards polish. Cant remember right now where I got the booster setup from, but Im pretty sure most places offer the same setup. Thanks

Hey looks great! Did you need to do anything to get 9.5 inch wheels in the back? Do you know if you could go wider?

Re: My 5 year 68 build is pretty much done
Thanks again everybody. Theres a few things Id like to get done over winter, like replacing the steering box.
I didnt have to modify anything. I think you could go a little wider, but Ive never measured.

Re: My 5 year 68 build is pretty much done
Looks good. excellent work. I will have my son read this thread as well. he thinks we can have his 67 completed in a year or two (freshman in HS) this may be possible if the grandparents kick in donations... we will see. Great truck, and inspiration to the younger generation getting into classics.
