Re: Black painted trucks. Is it impossible to keep clean?

I think i will stay away from black with this project. I might have to drive it on a dirt road if we don't get our new shop. Plus everytime you was it you are taking a chance on scratching the paint especially when the paint job is rubbed and buffed out. I will admit though that black is freakin beautiful when clean. Props to all the people sporting black even though all the work involved to keep it nice.

Re: Black painted trucks. Is it impossible to keep clean?

I have been around enough show truck that I know I wold nver have black. Love the way they look but the dust would drive me nuts. The red of my truck is enough for me to try to keep up with. My drive train is black and it is impossible to keep the dust away.

I disagree. Car lot operators have told me the top three selling colors are Red, White and Black. In the past few years, Silver has become very popular. The colors other than these four above, are better left to certain regions that may have a popularity value. Regional preferences will impact which colors sell better, but darker colors tend to sell better up north and lighter colors sell better down south. Green vehicles used to have the characteristic of being in better condition, because of the persons who owned it.

I am looking forward to my truck being black, again.

Also, it's amazing how many different shades of paint are called black. Just because it is black doesn't mean that any black paint you buy will be the correct shade of black.

Your wife wants you to go Black??????????????

Re: Black painted trucks. Is it impossible to keep clean?

Great thread !! From personal experience, nothing looks nicer but oh, a black vehicle is a lot of work to look after, but worth it!!! This thread is very timely for me because as much as I love my pink and white truck , latley I've had thoughts of taking her completely apart and redoing her black..

Never wax again, no swiral marks, cost way less to paint (really cheap if you do your own) and your truck will stand out because it is different. Oh yea did I mention more time for fun and cruz'n. Some thing to think about ....

esll.
esll, is the black on your truck the "hot rod flatz" or "trim black"? looks good, thinking about doing this on my 68 fleetside.
