Re: Hybrid combo on evilbay

I'd change the wheels and give it a new basic black paint job and I'd be happy to be seen in that.
I must admit that I came away with that 'Ford Ranger' thought too, but the fact is, they look good too and I'd bet its only the size and distance in the pics that gives us that impression.
I think if he wants what the time and labor cost on this, he'd better start putting up much higher quality pics and show some under hood and under body pics too!

Oh, and get a hot woman to stand in front of it!

Re: Hybrid combo on evilbay

I kind of agree with all who say WHY? It doesn't look bad and I'm sure it's had many hours spent on it but it looks like a newer truck to me. If thats the end goal I would just buy the newer truck.

As far as doing it because you can, thats a great attitude to have but its going to be hard to find a buyer for your idea of unique. If you spend that much time, money and passion on something you better plan on keeping it for ever. If you do sell, its likely to only be for cents on the dollar.

Good luck to him.

Just my opinion, but all that hard work and skill just took away what is cool about our trucks to begin with.

Re: Hybrid combo on evilbay

The way that I feel about it is that it is his truck and he is free to do whatever he wants to do with it. That being said, it is not something that I would do to a classic truck such as this.

For what it has been turned into it turned out fairly well. I have seen MUCH worse than this truck posted on this website where somebody has "modernized" an older truck. I personally think that they look much better as the original body style...period! At least he did change the shape of the front fenders to match up to the rear. I have to give him some credit there.

I have to agree about buying a late model and throwing some 20s on it instead of doing this. You'd have to be way ahead by going that route. He still has the 350/TH400 combo in it and if you were going to go through this much work on an old truck, why wouldn't you go ahead and put a late model Vortec engine and trans in as well? What about the wing windows? If he wanted to complete the look he should have put one piece side glass in as well.

To me it just seems like a big waste of time and effort, although I wouldn't mind seeing this one up close and in person to check out the quaility of the work, because it doesn't appear to be a "bondo" bucket. Somebody put a hell of a lot of time, effort, and money into this thing for it to turn out as well as it did.

I'll bet this guy thinks that he's going to make a killing off of his "customized" truck on Feebay. I'm afraid he will likely end up dissapointed. It will be interesting to see what the top bid will be at the end of this auction. ...Joe

Re: Hybrid combo on evilbay

He probably couldn't find a rust-free '68 passenger side fender or nice tailgate (hahaha), then started daydreaming....... then came up with this....
I like it, it's not my style... I don't really like our trucks with just these late model stepside beds, but I like them better this way when the front style matches the back style of the truck.
I have a friend in Denver. I should see if he busy to go look at this truck.

P.S. I'm annoyed by spelling issues too, if you could see how many times I edit my posts.

Yeah, it's kind of hard to read, and sometimes even understand, what someone is trying to tell you when they don't capitalize, punctuate and spell correctly. It's like Jethro Bodine is doing the typing for them! ...Joe

Re: Hybrid combo on evilbay

I would be willing to bet that he didn't build it with the thoughts of selling it. I would bet that he wanted to build what he had in his head. When I build something it isn't with the idea that I am going to sell it, I build what I think I want. I have to look at it every day. When it comes time to sell you worry about that then. Like his own answer says, he did it because nobody else had done it befor. WES

Yeah, he says he built it because no one else had done it. There is a reason for this too.

Cool kinda but id still like my rust bucket til I can get a better job and a good college degree and im in highschool then later it would be a nice shiny bucket then pull that 350 out and get the biggest motor I can find and drop in it and its hard trying to find a decent bet for my faded blue GMC but its mine and I wouldnt trade for the nicest truck in the world

Re: Hybrid combo on evilbay

Is the zebra black with white stripes or white with black stripes?? I like it!!!! Seems like alot of work though. Not much left of the origial truck......Cab, doors, half of the original fenders a sliver of hood..
Very ford ranger-ish..
