Re: DISASTER 101. UPS strikes at Triautomotive
FedEx or DHL all the way, piss on UPS no offence to soba_03 your just an employee and maybe in different departments its different but I have a couple of friends that work at shipping yards in West Sac and Rocklin here in cali and they say its terrible the way some people treat packages and there also not happy with the company and supervisors in general. My mother in law sent a laptop she was no longer using it was sitting on the doorstep when I got home in a box that lokked like it was full of meat and a pack of wolves got a hold of it, everything was there undamaged but we were just lucky. I have never had one package from FedEx or DHL damaged ever in fact just received a box from kore3 yesterday they were disc brake brackets and hardware for the rear of my 97 box is undamaged and the parts only had some packing paper in there wasn't even that tight but it still got here undamaged with all the parts in it, also UPS is 33% more expensive than FedEx it was $10 bucks to ship 10 pounds for those brackets with FedEx I also had the choice of UPS which was $14 and some change. I weigh 180 lbs I can stand on a box without crushing it so whatever UPS is doing sounds like its uncalled for and something needs to change. Simple fix get the word out when people stop using UPS maybe they'll change the way they handle things you'd think that in this day in age were people order more stuff online instead of driving across two towns or even a state to pick it up they would want to get with the program being an ever growing industry

Re: DISASTER 101. UPS strikes at Triautomotive
Well any post that has got this many complaints about a company and in only 5 hours has spilled onto a second page theres most likely an issue with the majority, the problem is there quality control if all shipping stations ran it the same way maybe no one would be complaning but obviosly they dont, like I said before different departments maybe different but if 7/10 arent doing so good I'd take my business somewhere else

Re: DISASTER 101. UPS strikes at Triautomotive
I shipped some vintage and mint McIntosh audio about a month ago...one by UPS, one by DHL...and the third piece by FedX. Ups and DHL absolutlely smashed the audio componentst. The FedX item arrrived just fine. The UPS was shipped in their origial boxes and the DHL item was double boxed and packed. Getting reimburshed from UPS is a pain in the ***, but not compared to DHL. I will no longer ship by UPS or DHL. I will use FEDX only. My shipper is about to drop DHL because of damaged shipments. FYI

Re: DISASTER 101. UPS strikes at Triautomotive
If ups doesn't use fork lifts, then some of their venders do, or they use equipment with fork lift's hard rubber tires. I know fork lift tire marks when I see them and the box with the grill in it had one right over one end. I reported it to UPS as forklift tire dammage, they came picked up the package and promptly reimburced my claim. WES

Re: DISASTER 101. UPS strikes at Triautomotive
I have never really had a problem with UPS. Any claim I did have was reimbursed promptly. DHL has damaged just about everything I recieved or sent through them. FEDEX has been top notch.
I think it matters how well it is packaged though. If it is packed to withstand the trip, then it will. If it's just thown in a box with a wing and a prayer, its probably going to get damaged or destroyed.

Re: DISASTER 101. UPS strikes at Triautomotive
I ship only Fed Ex Ground and USPS here. They are also cheaper and faster than UPS. I have refused to use UPS since they went on strike 15 years ago. Last batch of packages came in here from UPS looked liked they were in a huge pile and an a 300 lb employee walked on them to get to another package. I have only had one refusal to pay claim from Fed Ex for an antique wood aircraft propeller. It was the shippers fault packing wise but I don't think even proper packing would have kept it from being damaged. It looked like it was dropped off the back of a truck.

Re: DISASTER 101. UPS strikes at Triautomotive
my dad does a lot of gun business and he refuses to use UPS for stuff he ships, he has recieved several boxes with footprints on the outside of the box. just yesterday the driver had to find a package that was supposedly dropped on my dads porch but ended up at someone else's house, it took numerous phone calls to rectify the problem but he finally did get the package late last evening. this has happened many times but as stated earlier, he has no control over the shipper that the companies he orders from uses.

And 7,777 posts for you Randy! Maybe today will be your lucky day and you'll hear from DHL
I receive a lot of items by mail, and it seems UPS stuff is a little more beat up. The only insurance claim I've ever had a problem with was USPS though....LOTS of red tape.

Re: DISASTER 101. UPS strikes at Triautomotive
At work, a number of our customers require we ship the parts we make to them via UPS. It is convenient for us because there is a UPS store right down the street. We recently shipped an order of 20 stock plate bolts (for a can die), and they sent them back as damaged and incorrect quantity. WTF? I do most of the shipping, and I sent these out. I feel like my packaging jobs should be bomb proof.
When we got the box back, it appeared to have been speared on the end of a forklift tine, and then crushed somehow. UPS refused the claim, saying incorrect packaging. 7 of the bolts were MIA, and the rest were damaged beyond repair (threads were flattened, one had the cap bent almost 90 degrees to one side. We make these out of 4150 PHT steel, which is sorta soft, but come ON. How do you do that to a bolt which is .800 thick with a 1.25" cap on the top??????) My boss ended up scrapping them, making new for the customer on his dime, did not ship UPS, had me deliver them personally to the customer, 1.5 hours one way trip.

Re: DISASTER 101. UPS strikes at Triautomotive
How convienent , just claim incorrect packaging and they are off the hook.I can see if you ship your items in a brown paper bag , but come on are we supposed insure that a tank running over it wont damage it.

Re: DISASTER 101. UPS strikes at Triautomotive
I have found that shipping from AR to the west coast is better by FEDEX. Shipping to the east coast is better with UPS. Don't know why, but I've had issues with both, depending on where I was shipping.
But, there's other shippers on the block, now. Give 'em a call.
