Re: 1971 C10 Project

Thanks alot, I would have probably gotten a "correct" bed if I could have just for the original factor if I ever decide to resell, but I actually like the "step" on these beds better, and you cannot find a decent used bed, and can't even think of a new bed without paying some serious $$$. I got this bed removed and delivered for $250, so I jumped on it. Some people just have deeper pockets than me I think your's is a '79 or later bed as that's when they started using the fuel door rather than just having the filler sticking out of the bed. I like that feature too since that door can actually be used if you do the Blazer tank conversion.

Re: 1971 C10 Project

Re: 1971 C10 Project

small updates...but an update none the less. Finished wire brushing the frame, and we removed the controll arms from the suspension crossmember. Now i get to remove the controll arms from the spindels...oh yay....the joys of spindel swaping :P

Frame flipped and brushed, and ready for paint.

there probably a propper tool for this... but oh well...this works too.

the suspension stuff is going to be sandblasted soon...screw wire brushing that stuff!

Re: 1971 C10 Project

Frame Welding...
Cut some frame sections out of the 88 and welded them in the 67 frame to replace the deeply pitted sections

Re: 1971 C10 Project

A bit more progress! we now have a rolling frame!!!

We went down to Bill's truckshop in oshawa and brought back a bunch of great highquality replacement pannels, and a brand new chrome front bumper.

Full cabfloor skin, lower doorskins cabcorners and rockers. Aswell as 2 very nice solid trailing arms!! Im excited, we even have the engine and tranny bolted in for mock-up!!!

Heres when we painted the suspension parts...
