Re: Lets see those stereos...
That's a great idea. I'll have to keep that in mind if I ever want to do that to mine.

Re: Lets see those stereos...
Just installed it this morning, sounds pretty good. If anyone wants to do this go with 10's so you can easily get behind the seat.

Re: Lets see those stereos...
Seeing as this thread has come back to life, my new system:
Sound deadening almost done: Custom lower door panels housing twin sets of ARC6000 components: Kick panels modified and fitted with a set of ARC6000 components. Tweeters mounted in the dash like before: ARC Audio PEQ parametric equalizer mounted in custom center console: Four ARC10D2 subs in a custom box with white plexi inlays to hide mounting screws for subs:

Re: Lets see those stereos...
Who did your sub box AceX, and how tall are you? No I dont have sugar in my tank, I just want to know how tall you are because with that box back there I was wondering how much leg room you had.

Re: Lets see those stereos...
I'm just a hair under 6' tall and the box made it so the seat has to be moved forward a few inches (2-3"). It was awkward at first, but like anything, you get used to it.
I'm looking for a smaller steering wheel but haven't really found anything that I like or that will serve my purposes.

Re: Lets see those stereos...
You could always go with the 10" one made out of chain

Re: Lets see those stereos...
All the speakers are running in passive crossovers. Two crossovers are in each door and one set is in the dash. I got a phone call today from ARC Audio telling me that they're first prototypes for the new crossovers for these speakers are on the way, so SQ and SPL should improve.
Also, all the speakers are infinite, not enclosed. It's not an issue with SQ or SPL and causes no additional vibration in the doors. What does vibrate is these crap ass door panels made of molded plastic. If I could get my hands on a set of NOS door panels, I would.

Re: Lets see those stereos...
Honestly, I couldn't tell you because I didn't build these ones, a local shop did. I know my old box cost me ~$100 in materials. The kick panels wouldn't be that hard to make. All they did was add a small spacer on one side of the mounting ring for the speakers and then fiberglass it.
For the kicks, I'd look at the Q-forms. They do the job, you don't have to cut into the body like I did, and they should cost less than having a local shop build a set. The box should be easy to build. The basic construction is a very simple trapezoid type shape with beauty rings around the subs. The rings also come together in the center of the bowtie. The end caps might be a little harder to work with.

Re: Lets see those stereos...
How does that sub sound? I bought a pair for my brother's '57 Chevy, but I might give them to my room mate depending on how they sound...

Re: Lets see those stereos...
That polk momo sounds great. I'm running that kicker amp mono to it and have never had any problems.
I also have polk momo's in the front doors.
