Re: If you had $10,000... What would you do to your truck?
After paying the obligatory 35% "Wife Tax"- I'd take the balance and go get a '62 Impala I've had my eye on for awhile. That way I still have something cool to drive whilst the '67 LWB goes into the shop for some Shortbed Surgery. If there just happened to be a couple duckets left- I'd score some new BFG's and a 3/5 drop for the old girl.

Re: If you had $10,000... What would you do to your truck?
Hmm,
Let's see. Build a hyd roller 383 (450hp +/-),a gear vendor OD behind my 350 turbo, install eaton posi w/3:73's If anything was left after that, I'd put it into rear dics, and suspension. Or I'd go all out with the awesome paint job, and spend the rest on suspension, and motor upgrades. Jay

Re: If you had $10,000... What would you do to your truck?
Well, this isn't too tough, then on the other hand it is impossible. I have a 2wd Blazer, 5.3/4l60e, 6.0/4l80e, Vortec 350 (ready to assemble), Vortec 454's X's 2 (both to be 496-502's full roller {already, thanks, GM!}) a 4-bolt 454 GM block from my 90 454 SS truck, another 454 from a 74 truck, nasty 4-bolt 350 on engine stand, LT1/4l60e (aluminum heads and all!), Holley Aluminum heads for nasty 500hp 383 to come. I have two complete sets of disc brake parts (each set is for front and rear discs!) Two 3:73 posi rears, both to get the before mentioned disc brakes, I have a NV4500, and 4x4 Blazer with 454/4-speed (Yeah that's a total of 5 454's if you were counting, and I may have more, that I can't remember!?) I have three complete sets of Vortec 454 heads, 100cc's, oval ports that flow as good or better than most high dollar aftermarket heads!! I have 6 or 8 350's some of which will be 383's (Vortec or Lt1 because it'll have a roller cam already!) I have more stuff, not bragging, as a matter of fact seeing it all typed out here, I've decided I may be sick!! Now for the 10 G's I'd like to finish one of these things and use some of this stuff I have been collecting over the years!!! I also have a 70 RS/SS Camaro, a 67 Chevelle (4-door, but still!!) 90 454 SS, 72 K5 Blazer, 72 2wd Blazer. Please don't call the loony bin on my they'll lock me up and destroy the key. Holy crap, anybody have 10 "real" G's they'd like to spend, I need to have a garage sale!!!

Re: If you had $10,000... What would you do to your truck?
Not to hijack your post/thread, but I asked this same question back in '01, after my previous long-term employer eliminated my department and my job. I got one of those "packages" that had me thinking about what I could/would do with the money.
My wife and I have five kids. Need I say more? Oh, when my Dad died almost a year ago, he left me enough money to start on my truck. It won't be enough, but "Thanks, Dad!" If someone was to lay 10 large on me for my truck and nothing else.....engine and tranmission and "stuff"....would be on my list.

Re: If you had $10,000... What would you do to your truck?
Well right now I'm working on my restoration, and don't really have a budget....just the more I spend the longer it will take sorta thing. So some things that I'd do that aren't currently in the plans: Aftermarket front suspension of some sort, big Bear Brakes, and then go ahead an plop that super charger on top of the 5.3 (actually I'd probably switch to a 6.0L to run the new L76 heads! and then put a super charger on it)

Re: If you had $10,000... What would you do to your truck?
Finish my C-20 with the Cummins............I'd let someone else do the body work, but still paint it ourselves, buy an aluminum stake body, and a ZF-6spd new.

Re: If you had $10,000... What would you do to your truck?
10k would come close to finishing my '69 GMC the way i want it.
POR-15 the frame and suspension, allocate $5000 for paint, buddy buckets covered in black vinyl, wood bed, and a mildly warmed up 454 with alloy heads disguised to look like a 402 from back in the day. Not sure if i could swing Vintage air with just 10k, -- so i would save 2k more and do that

Re: If you had $10,000... What would you do to your truck?
Probably build my 350 into a 383 with the best of everything, put a NV4500 in, power steering, open knuckle front end to turn sharper, some 33's on 16.5 aluminum slots, small 2-3"lift, get the bodywork and paint done, fix the wheelhop make it reliable and drive it. Then save what money is left over.

put some airbags on it, 18 inch foose wheels, chrome everything out under the hood, and put some subs in it.
