Re: Help me pic a rim color for LOW BUCK!
Its your truck you kinda need to do it your own way.. If it were me on a budget I would just go to checker and get steel wheel paint kinda a light grey argent color, but its your ride do it your style and reflection.

Re: Help me pic a rim color for LOW BUCK!
Check out Stockton Wheel Series 59s. They take stock rallies and stretch 'em out to 17" diameter up to 10" wide. Best of both worlds!

Re: Help me pic a rim color for LOW BUCK!
Krylon dull aluminum looks nice on stock ralleys. I ran later model lugs and studs on my 8" ralleys and used their screw on cap set up so I could run the newer caps also........really looked good. I will see if I can get you a picture.
I replaced all studs on mine to a 88-98 Chevy truck stud and nut set up before I knew they had a conversion lug nut.

Re: Help me pic a rim color for LOW BUCK!
How about "hammered metal" colored? We painted most of my suspension stuff with Rustolem Hammered metal paint I think. It is a silvery color with a speckled/textured look almost. Anybody know what I am talking about?

Re: Help me pic a rim color for LOW BUCK!
I'm with the crowd that thinks body color, but I'm gonna stray and say make it a little bit darker, for contrast, and use the hot rod trim rings (like I did).
The stock argent color ain't bad, but there's a bunch of 'em just like that out on the road. A darker shade of the body color will accentuate the body color and the hot rod trim rings will make the wheel color pop.

Re: Help me pic a rim color for LOW BUCK!
Just use the lower piece of trim that is found on '69-72 tailgates. This truck has that trim, plus '67-68 tail light trim. It's a nice, subtle combination of parts that makes you think, "I know it's stock, but I don't remember them looking like that. Wait a minute, now I remember....."

Re: Help me pic a rim color for LOW BUCK!
Well I was thinking maybe white but Orange changed my mind . Whatever you choose , the skinny trim ring idea is good . Maybe instead of argent, a brighter Silver would lend to your stock at 1st glance look . Although dk gray
or Hammerite grey might be good .

Re: Help me pic a rim color for LOW BUCK!
If it were mine (I wish) I would paint the rims a charcoal grey, then as ETsC10suggested- run the skinny hot-rod rings. Then I would add some chrome or stainless bowtie cop caps or maybe spider caps. I'm not a fan of RWL tires, but in this case it might work.

Re: Help me pic a rim color for LOW BUCK!
Well, my opinion would be to leave them silver. I tried painting the rallies on my 86 a different color once. The only color that really looks good on truck rallies is silver. If you had a set Gennies or stock steel wheels, I would definitely say body color. I think the only thing making your wheels look bad right now is the dirty center caps. I think your best bet would be to paint them a dull silver with the small trim rings and late model center caps.
Here is a pic of how my rallies looked on my 86 with both letters in and out.

Black Would Look Good With The Chrome Tirm. Silver The Trim Just Blends Into The Wheel.

Re: Help me pic a rim color for LOW BUCK!
I used the late model caps & trim rings on my 68 so I like them.
For this truck, I would use late model 88~98 trim rings & mid-seventies (73~87) center caps. It's more of a period correct look but the skinny trim rings keep it clean & allow the deeper dish of the 8's to be seen vs. hiding under the ring. I snatched up a set of nearly perfect OE centers from Frank (pickmup) a while back. Just get some w/perfect or high quality chrome.
