The truck was on the cover (I think the Burb was too.) I've got it in ABQ, I'll post the issue when I get back there tomorrow, if you haven't figured it out by then.

Project start time will be after Trazer is finished and when I have down time between other projects. The first part of the build (burb w/4th door) will not take to long. getting to the rest will take a bit longer.

I like the rear fenders in the first pic, not the second. And of coarse yours will have a 4th door and a better roofline.

I agree! But unlike the first pic it will be a short bed and the fenders will get narrowed (3-4") to just fit the tires. Yes the roof will flow better and the rear doors will have the truck upper section. I think it will make for a sweet tow rig for longer family trips. Also Nate thinks we can find a HD rack and pinion for the DropMember that will hoild up to the weight of a diesel

I found an old pair of steps for the step fenders. You can have them if you want them. They may be good for another project down the road. They were the ones we had on lemon drop's bed when you were doing the body work. They have been blasted and are in primer.

im real excited to see this build. this sounds like the dream truck ive been building in my head for so long. ive watched every build you've done and im very impressed by your work. im only 20 and ive grown up around rebuilding old cars/trucks with my dad and i really look up to you and your work cause i know what it takes. and someday id like to be on your skill level. good luck on this project, i cant wait to the progress...

Thank you that was very kind of you. I enjoy building stuff that the factory din not. Trust me if you keep it up you will pass me in no time. I am jealous of you and your Dad, mine plays golf!

The cummins 5.9 has about 1100 pounds of heft. The others I believe are slightly less. So ballpark figure around 250+ lbs more.

I think that is #250 over a BBC!

I belive it is due to the total weight of the finished vehical and the direct weight on the steering axel it self. The standard rack used is over rated for the standard truck set up but comes right to the edge of what I am looking at doing. I also have plans for towing an enclosed 28' trailer that I figured into the use of this vehical when I went to Nate for advice. So if this was just going to be a lowered street vehical with out trailer use it would be fine but very close. I am sure Nate can explain it better but one thing I know is if he is not comfortable with it he will not sell it to you. This is why he wanted to know about the end use as well as the full vehical build before he gave me advice. At first I only asked if a drop member would work for a dually then he came back wanting to know more.

The 4th door sounds awesome. Frizzle has the "tahoe" and you've already made a 4th door crew cab out of a burb (even if you didn't "start" the conversion) so why rehash what's already been done

You like to be an innovater... so how's this sound...

1967/68 AVALANCHE.

It might be cooler in my head than in real life... get a burb gate that goes down (the one like a tailgate) and cut the body off below the window line, close off the back of the "cab" with a truck cab, finish off the top of the "bedsides" with top rails from a 67-72 bed, or better yet graft a whole 67-72 bed end onto the burb, tailgate and all...

Sigh, I wish I had skills to do this and not live through others

Your new project sounds killer. Nice to see you not take any time off between projects and have more to work on that can keep you busy.
I am liking the idea of a Suburban turned into a 4 door like an Avalanche which is what I kind of translated this build into at first.
I may be reading into this wrong but are you doing a 4 door truck,with a separate bed with dually fenders OR a 4 door Suburban (avalanche style) with dually fenders??
I will be watching for new build threads.

Oh and thanks to all of you for the motivation to get working on my project again finally.........dont know where my head has been lately but I will really appreciate the sound of a thumping small block counting off at an intersection again here before too long..

Thanks for the thoughts but it has been done before and does not look very goon in my book. I like custom rigs that have a more factory look. Like Low Buck it looks like a clean stocker that has been lowered untill you start looking deeper. I am going for the same kind of build with this. I will save the all out trick stuff for my 2wd Blazer build.

It will have a seperate SWB bed or shorter with step side fenders cut way down for tire coverage. The cab will be a 4dr with burb front doors for the square top corner and hybrid rear doors using teh truck top corner and the back of a truck cab reworked abit.

Gotcha,I think redneck and I were thinking along the same lines.

I remember a deep maroon late 90's Tahoe that was done up like an Avalanche in a mag once.

Sounds like you're going to do a "small" fender addition like the older sierra denalis? I always thought that was a cool touch GM added to those trucks.

WOW! It was THAT long ago? That's one of the best looking trucks I've ever seen. I wanted a "crew cab" after seeing that truck!

I'm diggin that. I like the look of super short beds as long as they are seperate and on this thing with the long cab and mini-dually fenders it would look awesome. We need a rendering!

That one does look good. I will have to do some renderings to see just how a real short bed looks with a crew cab. I think if I went that short it may make the front look too heavy. I will play around with 6 1/2' and 6' beds and see what works the best. I might also play with rear axel placement. I think a few inches forward or back of a stock SWB could make a big differance as well.
I havw been checking around and I might just find a rolling 73-88 crew cab dually frame for this build as it would be much beefier than the 1/2T burb frame. I really want the diesel power so I want to make sure everything else is up for the task.
