Re: 1964 c/80
I'd say get it....I used to have a '63 M80...3 axle with a 5spd and a 4 spd brownie, with air over brakes, but had to sell it before I got it running REALLY wanted to keep it. Then a few years later A friend of mine found the '63 C60 that I have now, down in Rupert, Idaho. You just don't find them around much anymore, especially in as good as shape as that one appears to be in.

Re: 1964 c/80
Well... I got to deliver one of the last death blows to this truck today..
It had disappeared several months after this original post, the scrap prices were high, I thought it had been scrapped. turns out, and this is probably my fault for posting pics and info of it on the net before I tried to get it, that a couple guys bought it , and yanked the 409 (of course!) to put in a 64 impala to sell. A friend of mine let me know that someone was storing what was left at his place, a few months back. I finally got around to see it today, and it is a good thing I did, they were already moving stuff around so they could get to it and scrap out what was left. So the good part- if there is a good part to this story- is the guy told me $70 to strip whatever I wanted off of what was left of it. I salvaged : the grille, r&l inside visors, the seat, the air guage instrument cluster(no tach), wiring harness, windshield, tranny cover, the fan pulleys - dont know why they left that, 1 single groove, 1 double, the oil bath 4bbl air cleaner, the info plates from the kick panel, the c/80 emblems, glove box -w/ owners manual!!, heater control, gas pedal, a set of road reflectors (under the seat, hopefully a gm acessory?) and 1 sill plate. not a bad haul for the money. the guy was still on the fence on what he was going to do with the cab, he wanted the doors, but to me they were rusty in the corners, and had those giant mirrors mounted to them. the cab was pretty solid on the bottom, but the toe board was starting to go, and 1 cab corner was starting to go. Either mice, or the cablights, or both caused some nasty rust in the roof on the passenger side above the wndshield and door. so sorry to say in the next couple of days the rest is probably on a slow boat to china.... here are some pics of the info plates, some had been curious about the gvw and stats:

Re: 1964 c/80
That's too bad that it's been parted out. At least you got some of the parts off of it.

Re: 1964 c/80
the narrow tank right in front of the rear wheel, I found out today was a napco road sander system, I think I have seen that option in my silver book, was kind of neat, maybe I should have picked 'em up for my 63 k20!

Re: 1964 c/80
I hear ya, I wanted so badly to keep the '63 M80 I used to have, but I had no place to keep it anymore, so I had to sell it. It went to Montana BTW.

I, too, would save them all, but don't have the money or space, so consider her an organ donor...a small part of her will still live on!

A heavy duty 32,000Lb GVW C80 with wide front fenders and 11,000 front axle shown. Lighter duty C80's would have the narrow front fenders.

Re: 1964 c/80
Reviving an old post that we were all talking about, I used to drive a truck similar to the truck above, but only a GMC. It was a '62 GMC 6500 with a 478 V-6, 5-Speed Trans, 2-Speed Rear, Air Brakes, and 10-20 Tires on Spoke Wheels. It had a 32,000 Lb GVW, but I always believed the Front Axel was 9,000 and the Rears 23,000 (totaling 32,000).
It was a 16 Ft Flat Bed Dump and was one tough truck. Bill |

Re: 1964 c/80
A long shot on an old thread-
By chance did you get the air duct that runs from the fender to the air cleaner? |

Re: 1964 c/80
no, if you notice in the pic on post #3 it has been torn off, and now that I look at the pic, I did not get the sheet metal cover that goes on the oil bath either, guess that was lost..
still kind of kicking my self for not grabbing the front clip and doors, but at the time I was out of $$ and the guy was anxious to scrap it

Re: 1964 c/80
Glad to see that you were able to salvage what you could off of it.
