Re: 5.3L...... which manifolds???
Those are the ones I have (98 Camaro) and they fit without any interference.

Re: 5.3L...... which manifolds???
The '98 manifolds should work. You can also try switching to the 73-87 style motor mounts, which is what the ECE kit is based on. This will buy you the clearance you need at the mount- they do not have the 'hump' that is causing you problems...

Re: 5.3L...... which manifolds???
What he said ^^
The ECE mounts use the standoffs from a 73-87 pickup. ECE custom-fabbed the top plate so it would adapt the 73-87 stands onto the GenIII engine, and, honestly, you could probably just take a F-Body top-half of the engine mount and bolt it directly to the standoff of a 73-87 truck mount. The only thing is, if you're running a 67-72 pickup, you will need to drill four holes in your crossmember to get the 73-87 mount to work (on the 73-87 trucks, the framerails are 0.5" taller, so ... the 73-87 mounts sit differently.)

Re: 5.3L...... which manifolds???
I PM'ed the Thorley guy here at the forum what seems like a week ago, and still haven't heard anything back. I don't think they're for sale.

Re: 5.3L...... which manifolds???
Wow, I guess Thorley doesn't want my business, then. That's unfortunate.

Re: 5.3L...... which manifolds???
Digging up an old thread....
I have '98 F-Body manifolds for my 5.3 swap that is nearly finished. I was wondering where you guys bought the exhaust flange that bolts to each manifold and connects with the rest to the exhaust? I plan on fabbing my own exhaust in my garage and these are the only pieces I am having trouble locating. The pattern is different from one side to the other. Thanks guys!!

Re: 5.3L...... which manifolds???
I used the ls6 manifolds which are some different I am sure but I was able to get a header collector kit the one with the flange and marked and drilled them to fit. I just hooked up my pipes to this collector tube
may not make sense...

Corrected info
Quote:
'98-99 F-body exhaust manifolds are identical. They changed for '00-02 and there was no '03 F-body. The part numbers for the '98-99 manifolds are not those listed above (which are for '00-02). The correct numbers are 12560193 (RH) and 12560194 (LH). (The RH manifold for '00 changed again for '01-02.) Part number info is from LS1Tech: http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=336981 Wanted to get this out there before someone else had to go through what I did just to find out he already had what everyone was trying to tell him to get (and they don't fit anyway). This isn't a slam on Rob or Shifty by any means -- just want to get the correct info out there for others. Brent

Re: 5.3L...... which manifolds???
I am planning on doing a 5.3L/460LE swap this spring/summer. I was going to just put a 700R4 in and then put in a 350 but at a local salvage yard I can get a low mileage 5.3L/460LE w/ computer and wiring for $1,500 so that is the route I want to go. Do you have any advice about the swap or good sources of info about it?

Re: 5.3L...... which manifolds???
grancuda, LS1Tech.com is great for info. go to the "conversions hybirds" thread. That site was where I got all my questions answered during my swap. (5.3/4L60E in 51 GMC). youll love the performance of the 5.3!

Re: 5.3L...... which manifolds???
I tried to use the 98-99 F body manifolds on my 5.3 swap last week and the right side will not clear the stock mounts.
I guess the ECE style mounts are required to use a stock type manifold. |

Re: 5.3L...... which manifolds???

I ended up modifying a set of long tube headers intended for a '98-'02 F-Body. However, my '98-'99 F-Body stock manifolds also worked with my setup. I used Brother's tubular engine stands that are intended to allow folks to use a '68-'72 Chevelle motor mount with a regular SBC/BBC. So I used those to replace my factory SBC frame mounts, then I bought a $50 kit from Summit made by Trans-Adapt that is a pair of steel plates that adapt the 4 bolt LSx motor mount pattern to the SBC/BBC. The kit even came with '68-'72 style Chevelle motor mounts. So was able to get all my LSx mounting hardware without fabbing a single thing and for less than $200. Plus it places the motor much more to the rear compared to the ECE kit.
