Re: new toy! 79 2wd blazer
I finally got time to lower it. I dropped it approximately 4"/4". I was prepared and even had the parts to do the flip on the rear, but decided it would be slightly more than i "really" wanted. I went with a spindle and one coil removed from the stock spring in the front. On the rear i used a 2" shackle and removed the overload leaf and the 1/2" lift block that had been installed somewhere along the way. This yielded about a 4" drop.
The wheels are Coys C5s 22x9" with 5.5" BS on the front with 265/35s the rear are 5" BS with 285/35s. |

Looks good buddy. It's hard to tell, but it looks like you need another .5-1" drop up front.

One good pothole or missing manhole cover and you can kiss those rims goodbye

Level! Looks great. Now if I could just reach in my monitor and pull that weed that's touching the bottom edge of the driver's door - driving me crazy...

Re: new toy! 79 2wd blazer
I was just rereading this. It's really inspirational to see what this truck looks like now compared to when you bought it. And you didn't have to put alot of money, just some good ole elbow grease into it. Lookin' good man.
I got to laughin about this: A missing manhole cover? When's the last time you saw that. Maybe in Alaska?

Re: new toy! 79 2wd blazer
Looks great Tracy...very clean. Like the Coys ALOT.
Are you getting any rubbing of the inner fender? I'm just curious since I'm getting BAD rubbing on the inside of the tire towards the engine on both sides....it's already burnt the paint off the fender.....considering just removing them.

Re: new toy! 79 2wd blazer
did you have any clearance issues with the rear shackle? I have been thinking of using one and have heard horror stories about rerouting the gas filler ect.

Re: new toy! 79 2wd blazer
the shackle will fit, it also will rub the fuel filler hose. I have done it a couple of times. You can loosen the clamp that attaches the filler tube to the body and kinda cheat it over a little(if that makes sense). To me the rubbing on the hose is not that big of an issue, as long as it doesnt hinder the flow which it doesnt.

Re: new toy! 79 2wd blazer
I went by the muffler shop I use and showed him what needed to be done. He said if I'd take it off he'd put a curve in it to clear the shackle. Works for me. If only he were open Saturdays, I'll have to take a day off just for that little detail.
