Good luck! Hope you get it running soon. Know it's a great feeling to hear it run for the first time.

Re: My quick/ budget 5.3 69 Chevy C10 Project
I need more detailed picts of how you modded the oe motor mounts, as I'd rather throw my money away on the fuel system part of the LS puzzle vs. spending the $200 of LS swap mounts, etc?? I also send a message in the other 5.3 thread, wanna do my wiring and comp reflash or at the very least draw up a schemeatic/diagram of what the harness should need to run?? I have a 5.3 that has been sitting for a year or so cause I am scared!! I figured a few grand at least, but that was with buying everything and paying for someone to do the harness and comp?? Sounds like I could do it for way under a grand if I use the 4l60e and all that I already have along with the truck set-up since I have it and it is a truck!?

Re: My quick/ budget 5.3 69 Chevy C10 Project
The mods get mad about talking about selling harness work so I will refrain from selling anything. There are a ton of resources on the net depending on what year harness/ ECM you use. If you are going to use a truck harness/ ECM/ truck intake you will have to dig up the info, but its all over and very similiar to the car stuff. A great start for car harness info is:
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/conver...swap-faqs.html I used carshopinc motor mounts which are around 50 bucks, then I only modified my mounts for clearance of the stock manifolds. There seem to be a handful of different frame mounts in these trucks so you will just have to buy the plates first and figure out how it will go together. I know on this truck Im doing they lined up pretty bad but I made it all work, once its all bolted together tight its fine, just kinda fun getting everything in line. For the fuel system you cant beat the external 255 walbro and corvette filter/ regulator setup, very easy to do. Ill post some pics of mine later. |

Re: My quick/ budget 5.3 69 Chevy C10 Project
Nice looking work. I am also interested in how you modified the OE motor mounts. I have a '67 C20 that we will plant a 5.3L in and could use some more pics of those mounts you fabbed up. Thanks.

Re: My quick/ budget 5.3 69 Chevy C10 Project
All I did was modify my factory frame mounts for clearance around the manifolds. I then used the regular cheap adapter plates everyone sells.
oh yeah...the truck ran tonight too......yahoooooooooo |

What size tire and wheel is that? What is the backspacing that looks pretty big. Is your rear end modified?

Re: My quick/ budget 5.3 69 Chevy C10 Project
It drove okay....the engine is real responsive, feels like it wants to rip your head off I got too anxious and didnt get a couple of exhaust hangers on it yet so my joy riding was cut short by the mufflers thump-thumping under the cab
