Re: Does anyone like the look of this truck?
Haven't heard this one in a while..
SWB is short wheel base. That truck looks decent since it is black, and the points that don't line up properly are harder to see, same reason the squared off wheel wells don't look so bad on a truck that has rounded wheel wells. However, those beds generally don't look good on these trucks. They look great on 88 - 98 trucks though. |

Re: Does anyone like the look of this truck?
agreed...this truck plays it off pretty good. wasn't there a truck where someone had made the rear wheel openings rounded like the front?

Re: Does anyone like the look of this truck?
yeah, but the bed still didn't line up right. The lower portion is too wide, the top is too high the body line is kinda close.
A lotta ppl say it fits just right. i say it is right-ish... but still more wrong. |

Re: Does anyone like the look of this truck?
The front wheels and rear wheels go in different directions. The bed fits well, would look better with a matching wheel well.

Re: Does anyone like the look of this truck?
Thats the best looking one with that bed I have seen yet. I personally think the bed would look better of the rear steps near the taillights were taken off.

Re: Does anyone like the look of this truck?
I've seen a couple of later model trucks with early beds on them, I did't care for that ether. But it looks like they did a good job on this one at this angle anyway.

Re: Does anyone like the look of this truck?
Oddly enough, the 'newer' bed looks outdated. I have never understood the combo other than it's a 'not seen too often' mod. Come to think of it, maybe there is a reason why. But don't forget, if you like it that is all that really matters, right?

Re: Does anyone like the look of this truck?
It's someones own truck. Why is everyone so quick to critize? There is always going to be some that like and some that don't like just about anything one does with [I]his[I] own ride. A truck (or car) is built by an individual to his taste, not by a committee vote.

Jim is right about the mis-matched wheel opening contours, and the fact that the black makes it less noticeable. All you gotta do is make each end match. Cut out a set of front wheel openings from suitable donor fenders and cut/weld as needed to install them in the front of the cab/chassis and it'll really have some people doing a double-take.

Re: Does anyone like the look of this truck?
I never was keen on the newer 88-98 beds on 67-72, mainly because the wheel wells don't match. I saw a truck somewhere on this forum where they transplanted the fender opening from an 88-98 fender onto a 67-72 fender. Since we are nitpicking, I could never figure out why people had such a hardtime mounting these directional wheels were they turn the same direction. Notice one is one direction on front, and the rear is another. There are two different part numbers for this style wheel, depending on which side they are mounted...

Re: Does anyone like the look of this truck?
Yeah, this thread was meant for purely superficial responses, my '72 will have that same bed on once I get it on the road, this is of course until I can afford a nice 67-72 stepper. I think it looks OK... It would look better with Cragars.
